I've been gallivanting around my house with my '94 Panasonic MC-5277 recently this week and I have a couple quick questions about it.

#1) Is it normal to have air leakage around the bag gauge piece on the lid? Is there supposed to be a rubber gasket there or something? Also my bag gauge does not seem to function at all.

#2) Is the cotton filter that goes over the motor screen under the bag washable?

Thanks!

The bag indicator thing is normal, thats just how those are. As for the filter, if its a whitish color, with a after fuzzy layer and a layer that looks like something you'd scrub dishes with, than its not washable, if its a dark colored foam, then it is. I have no idea what you have in there now.

It's normal. The gauge can be taken apart and cleaned out if it doesn't function properly. Also the cotton filter is not washable.

Correct. It's a white cotton material that is fuzzy like a tennis ball after the dog's chewed on it. I'll need to get a new one then, as it's pretty dirty.

Would replacing it with a foam filter be better?
