For some of us that have been involved with the VCCC and Vacuumland for 20 years or more, Mike Rogers was somewhat legendary. A long time member of the VCCC and former board member, Mike was one of the most knowledgeable members we had.
He had been involved in the vacuum industry for years as Hans mentioned. He was a, "guru", when it came to Royals and Filter Queens. He was such an eloquent speaker that we asked him to conduct repair clinics at several conventions. He would enthrall the members with the way he spoke and the way he explained how motors worked in different vacuums. At times he was mesmerizing. Mike was a mentor and role model to new and young members. His willingness to share and help people find vacuums and parts was wonderful. He gave of his time, his knowledge and parts from his vacuum business. He opened his store to vacuum collectors regularly. He contributed to the VCCC newsletter, if not in articles, in information that we used. He was consulted on convention protocol, agendas and procedure. He was a judge in vacuum categories for years because of his ability and knowledge. In my early years in the club he was a sage advisor and a good friend. After he became ill, he became somewhat of a recluse and hard to contact. I think his personal pride had something to do with that. Farewell Mike, and thank from the bottom of my heart for all the kindness not only you bestowed upon me and the club, but to all our members as well. For those that did not know him, you missed somebody special. Godspeed friend.......... Charlie Watrous This post was last edited 11/13/2017 at 22:08 |

Mike was a kind gentleman, and so knowledgeable. I always enjoyed his company and his clinics. There were a couple of times I had the need to call him about something, and he always dropped what he was doing and came to the phone to help me out. |

I learned a LOT from him in the short time I knew him. I'm grateful for the conversations we had and have really missed seeing him at conventions.
I always looked forward to seeing the car pull up at conventions with 2 great kind people getting out and that was Brother Chris and Mike. I miss them both |
