Yesterday I went out to do some what I thought was window shopping at some of the places that I frequent. One of which is a antique store that I have been going into for years. It is not a antique mall, but it is a store where I am certain the owners buy items, and people have some things there on consignment, a good bit of it is architectural salvage and things of that manner. But there are a TON of vintage fans, and radios, and a whole section of odd ball and household items. So, upon entering I looked over the counter, and I saw a handle. I immediately knew what it was.  It had a tag around it with a name and a number, but the tag didn't say "Sold", so I wondered what the story was.

I am glad I asked. I was told that it was brought in by its owner, with a bunch of other things that this person wanted to sell to this shop, and the shop had told this person that they didn't want this machine (I have no idea why it was still sitting there then). So of coarse I asked if they would sell it to me, and of coarse they did. I had a bad feeling that if I didn't, being how a antique dealer didn't think it was valuable enough to buy (Which I bet I knew how the conversation went word for word), that it was probably headed for the trash.

But all that is no more now, it is safe in captivity. now it is not perfect. it is filthy dirty, and had some pitting on the chrome, but at least it has no major parts missing or replaced, and it is all original otherwise, and does turn on, so that is a VERY good starting point. The rest I can handle during the restoration.

So I did want to ask....If any of the elders, and more experienced members have a model 801? I tired to do a google search, and found one that was a little later, but that was the only one that was a close to mine. I also searched the forum here, and only one other past member had posted his, and that member is not a part of the community anymore.

The other question I have is about age. I know that the caramel colored, brown ones were from about 1946, 1947. I would think this one is a little newer then that, maybe 1949?? Am I close?....lol....

I am going to share some pics I took real fast after I got it home, it is in unrestored condition in the pictures to bare that in mind.

You ARE close 49 or 50

I have one, it matches the square tank that has the same attachments as the first swivel top. This upright is very powerful.

Thank you Hans...

Just the reply I was looking for! I is undergoing its restoration as we speak. The motor compontents and such are in excellent condition, other then being dirty.

When David Watters was around. I played with his brown 2 speed Deluxe model. I remember thinking to my self despite its primitive look, it did a pretty good job.
