Saw one of these at a vac shop today. It is an Oreck which has been re-branded as a Royal. Somewhat shocking.

This vacuum kind of reminds me of an old Oreck/Whirlpool/CVR kind of vacuum, especially because of its monochromatic color scheme and bag. The bag is some kind of plasticized cloth and lacks the traditional oreck markings: the stripe and bag trim at the bottom. Instead, it just has a very boxy look with a big metal zipper.

Even though its a sad, confused vacuum, I kind of like it.

Very interesting, I never thought that Royal would go Oreck.

Since both are owned by TTI, it makes sense in retrospect. But, yes, I agree with you, I was somewhat surprised to see a rebadged Oreck since it hasn't really been done before.

Or-I didn't think I would see Oreck going Royal!Wonder if you have to pay more for this vacuum.Looks rather basic.

This is a dealer-only vacuum at the curent time being, but there is one and only website it's for sale at right now for $199.99.

Also it seems like Royal is selling badge-engineered Eurekas as well.

This looks like the fallout from Royal's buyout of Oreck that happened in 2013.

I didn't know Eureka and Royal worked together.

That’s a rebadged Hoover Tempo...not a Eureka. Lots of Hoover’s best bagged machines seem to be moving over to it’s “sister” division Royal. TTI may be refocusing the Hoover brandname as a line of bagless Box Store vacs. Not sure, but it looks like that is what’s happening.

The Tempo has always been available under 100.00 IIRC. TTI throws on a commercial cord, calls it a "commercial" model and jacks the price up. Way to go TTI, all about the money and no improvements to make it worth the increase.

I think the story is more complicated. A year or two after it was launched, the $100 Hoover Tempo lost its headlight and its bag check indicator. It was also made in China. This Royal seems to be made in the USA and now has the headlight and bag check indicator like the original Tempo. It seems it has better urathane wheels instead of basic plastic. It would be interesting to do a side-by-side detailed comparison.

When the V.C.C.C. went to Stark's Museum, it was the first time I saw (clearly Hoover looking machines) saying Royal. It was on the Wind tunnel of all things....Mr. Dick Pike's baby.
I want Hoover to be HOOVER, Royal to be Royal, Oreck....and so on.
It doesn't really matter to the company.

I think the eureka royal you may be referring to is actually a rebranded Hoover tempo wide path. Royal and Hoover are now owned by TTI, so it should come as little to no surprise that the companies are using each other’s designs.

Oh okay, those basic no frills Hoovers look a lot like a Eureka.

That little "Tempo"

is the best "bang for your buck" at the moment.
I HATE the "name game"... kinda like playing Mr. Potato Head.
