Hey all!

Haven't been on in a while. Anyways, through many vacuums I have collected over 250 vacuum cleaners, since my debut on TLC, so progress is being made! Anyways, I got a Bissell Big Green carpet cleaner, with the cord cut off, so i replaced it. Ran it the first time, and it works awesome! The only issue I have with it though is that it leaks water like crazy. I was just wondering though, did these sell as commercial/rental machines? It looks suspiciously like a rental, but it says household. I dunno. Any info will be awesome! Thanks!

The Bissell Big Green was more of like a contractor's vacuum. You would have use for it if you had your own carpet cleaning company, or if you were remodeling a house or a landlord of a rental home and needed to clean dozens of homes a day but couldn't afford to waste time and money on renting a Rug Doctor constantly.

It was sold domestic at retail and on QVC, but at a price of around $500-600 it was not something your average Joe would buy.

It's worth fixing, these only came to market about 4 years ago, still pretty new, and secondhand price is going to be very high due to their high retail price, so it wouldn't be easy to find one again.

Water leakage, I would check the hoses at the bending points for stress cracks and check the gaskets around the tank spouts for cracks. My Bissell upright shampooer from the 90's had the hose split in that area only 2-3 years after I got it. They don't treat the rubber with any kinds of protectants I do not think, and over time I assume the chemicals in the shampoo solution eats away the rubber and makes it brittle.

Actually there were a couple versions of the big green machine, one was a canister that could be used as a dual purpose machine back in the 90s and the other is the upright "rug doctor" based machine. So my question is which machine are you referring too?

My uncle has one.

Always bought 'huge stuff'. I think it was used twice. When I cleaned his cellar, I found it in a large plastic tote. I wonder if anyone (cousins) realize it's still down there.
