Found this on Craig's List and and had to go and check it out. I have a soft spot for the Decade 80 machines. This one was in Like New Condition and the guy wanted 25. SOLD! A little clean up and a new bag and to the shrine she goes!

Thoughts?
Larry

Holy Hoover, Batman!!!! Even EurekaPrince can appreciate a great upright from the folks in North Canton! Amazing that this one looks barely used...can't see one scratch anywhere. How did this survive so well over the years?

Congrats!

That's a model that's rarely seen. You got a great buy!

Like new is NOT an exaggeration! That one is truly a score! All you have to do now is give it a good work out.

Very nice and uncommon.... A little history, did you know the very first version of this model came with the Convertible name on it? I had one but sold it because I wasn't collecting yet at that time.

Very nice. What's the model? Wondering, too, if it has the time-coded serial # that Hoover started in 1988.

This would be way before 1988. More like 1980-82ish

You can only....

Date Hoover machines by the serial number with machines made after 1987. So since this one was made in or around 1980, that is not possible.

Dating Vacuums

Often if you google the model number, newspapers.com will sometimes have an advertisement archived from a newspaper (subscription required to view) but you can get a date from there.

According to this Paris, Texas newspaper ad, the machine hit the market in winter 1981.
