Yesterday I was given a Electrolux 1521. Looked like it was either in the rain or sat in a puddle.

This morning I took it apart.

I was curious to know from the community, if they thought this motor is shot. From what I can see, we know how high the water made it inside. There is even a watermark on one of the wheels.

I see no evidence of water infiltration anywhere else.

What do you think from these pictures?

BTW, is this the problematic motor??

Electrolux motor

That is a much improved motor(or rebuilt with improved parts). That smaller amount of water and not being turned on while wet should cause little if any trouble.

I agree with Rugsucker. If there's no apparent water damage inside the motor housing, then you're probably good to go, but since you've already got it torn down, you might as well do a basic cleaning and lubrication while you're in there. Just to be on the safe side, I'd also be inclined to clean off what rust there is on the outside of the motor housing and shoot it with a rust inhibiting paint to help keep it from coming back.
