Greetings!

If you have been following my thread regrading to the Fantom How-To-Video collection, or if you have looked at my profile, you know I am all about Fantom Vacuums! So to start off this journey, I have remade the Fantom logo to kickstart this massive project! The logo has been re-made to it's natural "Fantom Beauty"!
The photo is for everyone to use to get the word out about this project! I will need as many people as I can get for other huge announcements and projects! So in the mean time, share this to your social media's using the hashtag #Fantomisback and follow the official Fantom Technologies Twitter!

Thanks again and I can't wait for whats ahead!

You ended up getting the name?

Was it easy to get the Fantom name from Shark? Or did it not entirely get finished yet?

Nick

All I can say is congratulations on knowing what you want to do at 18 years of age. At 18, I was in no position to buy a company name from Euro-Pro, nor start my own manufacturing business. I was, at 18, selling Rainbows door to door, and thought I was doing good. Hope everything works out for you.

Doesn't Salton (Westinghouse) still own the patents for all of the Fantom vacuums? They could have expired, who knows? I think the Thunder with a pre motor filter would be a fantastic commercial vacuum today. The Lightning and Cyclone XT could have a market with some modifications. As for the Fury and Wildcat, I think they have too many flaws to save.

I hope the revival of fantom goes well for you fantomtechguy. Did euro-pro/shark finally loose their grubby little hands from fantom? They did nothing with the name for almost 15 years. They took all the vacuums of their website they don't even sell them anymore. They act like fantom never existed.

If you make a good cleaner and it's reasonably priced, I'll buy it! When do you plan to start manufacturing? Will it be made in USA or in China? Are you going to sell in big box stores or go DTD? Will you use the same old designs, or introduce new ones? Will you sell reasonably priced HEPA filters? I have so many questions! :P BTW, you should probably listen to some members on this forum about future designs. Some of us really know what we're talking about!

Good Luck!

Kirkwoods Sweeper Shop, bought the Air-Way name and carry vacuums, not anyway similar to the original with the Air-Way name. They have a website.

Let's bring Sanyo and Panasonic back, with Sharp. The Japanese and Koreans are way superior than the Chinese.

Panasonic isn't technically "Gone" for good. They sold their manufacturing tools, machines, equipment, and designs to Cleva that is continuing making vacuums for Sears under the Kenmore name. Sharp isn't sure if they would like to make vacuums again but if they did, they wouldn't make them like they used to be.

Given that Sharp used to be big in electronics, with Panasonic and Sanyo. The latter is now owned by Funai, and sold at Wal-Mart.

I was not trying to be discouraging.

I was reading on facebook that there is now a gofundme set up with a goal of $30,000 to accomplish this project.

Not wanting to be the doubting Thomas here, but add a couple of zeros and move the decimal point to the right. Not only do you have to acquire the name, but there are molds, tooling, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution cost involved. Again I wish you luck but there is going to be a lot more involved than redoing the logos.

I admire the intention and the ambition, but just adding a dose of reality here.

The launch of the Prima/Wonder model cost Tacony a couple of million dollars in research and development costs, manufacturing costs, marketing costs, etc. An individual injection mold for a single part can cost MORE than a million dollars.

Post# 378736 , Reply# 28   9/21/2017 at 10:29 (2,380 days old) by Kirbysthebest (Midwest)
Yes Tom,

Exactly my point. Then you have to have someone, somewhere manufacture said parts, and assemble them. That's not counting raw materials.

Unless this is just for a licensing agreement, where there is going to be some manufacturer slap the logo on an existing model; I am going to estimate a minimum of $10 Mil to get up and running.

To clear up some confusion...

fantomtechguy's profile picture
There has been a lot of confusion about the project and I am here to clear everything up. I set up the Gofundme to raise money for the first part of the project. This first part of the project requires the name and loyalties purchasing. Then after that is complete, then the second part of the project will take place, opening up shop.

I am really passionate about this project and I will go through Hell and High water till people can go to the store, and leave with a Fantom Vacuum.

Question

This just crossed my mind today. If the goal is not met will you still be remastering the how to videos on DVD for the project backers? I think it would be cool to do even if the whole purchase for some reason does not get completed.

Royalties and Trademarks

Will cost you a kings ransom to begin with. It is now worth more, because this is a public forum, and the powers that be will be able to ascertain there is someone placing value on their defunct name. Legal fees, well the $30K will be a nice retainer. I just caution the re-mastering, or reproducing logos for items that are owned by others. Don't even think about distributing them until you have ownership, or severe legal troubles could come your way.

I know of a man that was called Jeep. He opened a bar in his own name called Jeep's. Diamler-Chrysler sent him a cease and desist letter, followed by legal services to remove and de-image the name from the establishment due to trademark infringement. He attempted to fight them, but it came down to a protected property belonging to a cooperation who did not want "their" name used in another commercial operation. Bar is now named "Jed's".

Again I say--Wishing you well.

ALEXHOOVERS94 THAT IS THE MOST IRRELEVANT POST I HAVE EVER SEEN. You don't even live in the us so you can't control it. I am all for fantom coming back. It will be the only good vacuum left on the market. Dyson sucks and the early dysons look like fantom thunder/fury wannabes

Trademarks

If the trademarks are unused and not renewed for a certain period of time they revert to public domain. I don't think Fantom is anywhere near that yet.

Am willing to pay 800$ for a brand new thunder and worst case scenario you can hopefully get the rights to at least sell some replacement parts and I was thinking what if they had rebuildable brushrolls like a Sanitaire that would be literally the best vacuum ever

Will they be sold through Walmart???
