I had my first official mini meet over the weekend in the Southeast part of Kansas.
Chad, Kenny, Will, and Corey all came to my home from KC, Tulsa, Wichita, and Dallas area. We had a blast but there's just not enough time in a weekend to do everything. My area was having a 100 mile yard sale hitting every town within a 100 mile radius. Will came in Friday afternoon and crashed at my house. Chad and Kenny also came in Friday afternoon and stayed in town. We played with vacuums in the mini meet rooms till pretty late. After Chad and Kenny left Will and I sat up till sun up taking about vacuums and such. Shaylee got home from work (12 hour nursing shift) and made us all breakfast before she went to bed. Corey arrived sometime during breakfast. We hit the road and by about 4 decided to call it quits and head back to my house... That's when things got interesting. As driving through Coffeyville Ks I was telling a story about a vac shop that had been there many decades that just closed as the owner died. As we drove by it, doors were open and old vacs all over the parking lot. We pulled in and spent a LOT of time going through the shop then the old mans grand daughter asked if we would like to see his house which was a vacuum hoard. I knew the old man very well and that helped her be comfortable with us going through his house. OMG it was like an episode off Hoarders. It was all vacuums everywhere. We started off spending an hour or 2 in the dumpster in the front yard which was FULL of vacuums and old advertisements. After we finished up with that it was super late and everyone had to get back that night. We never made it back to my house for more vacuum play but there will be other times. Will did stay another night since he had the furthest to drive. He left about 6pm Sunday night. We sat and serviced vacs all Sunday.

My phone was dead and so I didn't get any pics but the others dd so I will rely on them to get pics posted.

It was a blast....

Going through the former vac shop owners house was the highlight. Unfortunately, we didn’t get time to play with vacuums together as a group. We will do that next time. I love being around Phillip's house and all of his wildlife. Reminds me of my childhood, my dad is a retired high school AG instructor. So I grew up around hogs, chickens and horses and was in 4H and FFA.

the owner's house. It was a real adventure! The grand daughter loved it. And got a real kick out of us digging through her grandfather's vacuums and parts. The grandfather also refilled condom vending machines in the area so the grand daughter gave us a bunch of gag condoms as souvenirs!

We also ate at

Lannings in Coffeyville, KS which had great food while we were waiting for the grand daughter to get back with us on going through the owner's home. Before the mini-meet Chad and I ate at the Pioneer Woman's restaurant in Pawhuska, OK. Which was quite an experience the restaurant had excellent food! I had been to Pawhuska quite frequently in the past to attend our 4H annual livestock sale.

setup is so much fun to use. I didn't realize that these Eureka uprights (power nozzle) had both metal and plastic based versions. I just can't get over how much fun we had and I'm still thinking about the digging adventure the four of us went on. Thanks again, Phillip for hosting!

The old man Mr Kennedy also collected vintage condom machines and their content. His drand daughter Victoria gave us all a parting gift. A box of vintage comical rubbers. There were 100s of these machines all over the house and store.

The lady in the pic is Victoria the vac shop owners grand daughter.
Shaylee was so disappointed that she had to work all weekend and couldn't dig with us. Victoria has contacted us and asked if we can assist her with going through all the rest of it and help her sell it all.

Victoria was nice and very pleasant and had a lot of stories about her grandfather and his dealings with people as a Kirby Salesman. I loved using the Regina Brush and Beat. Pretty powerful for such a small vac. I just wanted to post a full picture of the vacuum.

Victoria messaged me yesterday to tell me she found 2 more smaller buildings absolutely FULL of more vacuums.

John That is a collector from Wichita. I met him this past Spring. He's a great guy. He is on vacuumland but I forget what his user name is. I think it has Electrolux in it. I'll find it and post.

So many handsome men, just who will I have BBQ with?

Phillip,
Greetings from Tokyo...or at least the end of the runway in Nartta, Japan. It looks like everyone had a great time. It was kismet or good karma that determined the vacuum shop be open and available that day! Sorry I couldn't make it, I would have loved to get my 'dig' on.
Best to you and Shaylee,
Sean
P.S. In the pic where everyone is standing in the dumpster, what kind of hoses are close to Will's feet...enquiring minds want to know! A gentleman can't have too many...hoses!

Sean,
I can't tell from the pic but I vaguely remember it as I picked it up and looked at it. It's either a GE or Eureka. Seems it was missing the hose end.

That green hose n the pic I should have grabbed as it's rare. It was a Bison hose and I forgot to save it.

You know this is going to forever be our terms for vacuum digs now, right?

I am ready for s**t show number 3. That was quite an unforgettable night! Not just the vacuums but the company. Victoria was eating it up as well. Remember that AF cord winder? She thought it was so cool that the cord winder was from 1957. I was like big deal. I have two of them, lol! She was so taken back by our interest in vintage vacuum cleaners she was googling them from her phone.

We made her day as much as she made ours. I can’t wait to see what is behind door #3. Oh, the adventures we get into together!

Sean, you can take all of us to the barbecue! Oh fiddle dee dee, decisions, decisions. You are in the same position as Scarlett however you don’t have to choose. And if you cook, we will never go hungry again!
