Many of the higher-end vacuums have tried and true designs with the same model(s) in the marketplace for years at a time. Like a car manufacturer, might the vacuum manufacturer revisit a year 1 design and tweak components that seem to be experiencing a high failure rate? I just added an electric set-up to my non-electric Miele C3 rig and was nervous about the durability if the SEB 236 power head. But I think it first hit the market in 2003 and replaced a similar designed SEB 226. Since it's launch we know they migrated from a florescent bulb to LED lighting within the last decade. What other improvements do we not know about?
Despite some 'testimonials' about the frailty of the 236, like the temperamental wand release foot pedal, I sprung for it anyway. On mine, anyway, the foot pedal release seems smooth and awesome. Might it have been redesigned?
I've not given the new setup a full test as my electro wand that was to arrive at the same time today was delivered to the wrong address 20 miles away so am attempting to have USPS track it down.
