I have bought a kirby G4 in The Netherlands, it is working fine but when I engage the Drive lever on the back (which does make moving the machine very very easy) there is a sort of squeaking sound on the backward movement, does anyone know what can be causing this and how to fix it, or is it normal for it to do this? thanks amateursewing@gmail.com

Amateursewing:
The squeaking sound you hear when in reverse most likely means that the transmission is getting close to failure due to worn parts internal to the transmission. Since there are no serviceable parts inside the transmission, you may want to replace it before it fails completely. All G series Kirby's use the same transmission. The Neutral / Drive pedal may be a different color.
You can easily get a new transmission for your G4 on ebay for approx. $95 or $50 for a good used one. There are several videos on You Tube that will walk you thru replacing it yourself. All you really need is a Phillips screwdriver.
