If Fantom were to have stayed in business, what machines would they have produced? Fantom might've made a better profit if they transferred production over to Japan or South Korea (maybe parts of Europe, Australia, or New Zealand).

Fantom only made what they did, as they had the legal right to do so from Dyson...Fantoms were basically the same in design, for the most part, as the early British made Dysons...Fantom would probably of still gone under anyway when Dyson came to the US, James would of no doubt dropped the rights for them to use "his design".

The licensing deal James Dyson made with Fantom Technologies probably would have continued (and we would not have Dysons in America now) if Fantom's greed wasn't so high. When Mr. Dyson designed the MEMA filters for the DC04, Fantom had the right to use the design. They had no interest in a washable pre-motor electrostatic/foam filter since they were in the business of Selling HEPA exhaust filters. For $75 each. With no pre-motor filter, the exhaust filters 'filled up' quickly. Mr. Dyson did not sign another deal with them, once the first deal was up (ten years I believe), and Fantom lost the right to the dual cyclone technology.

I like to think that had Fantom not gone out of business, they would be making an American version of the ball design vacuums. Better brush rollers for American carpets.

Fantom would still dominate the vacuum market

If Fantom Technologies Inc was still in business, they would still be dominating the vacuum market.

Sometimes, I like to imagine the Fantom logo on a new Dyson. It would be cool to see that, but to be honest, Dyson Vacuums have not been so good lately. Most of the new Dyson's are not made good and are crappy, compared to the older models made from 2005 to 2011. To be honest, I've been working on some concepts on what Fantom Vacuums would look like today. I'm not going to share them now, but I'll wait till there done because I think they look cool and I'd like to share them with everyone. But also, if Fantoms were still around, we would not have Dyson, maybe just in the UK but not in the US or other areas. But to wrap up, it would be cool to see it, and maybe we just might will ;)

You're right, the modern Dysons are awful.

It has long been suggested that

Hoover SHOULD have bought into the Dyson thing.. Perhaps those cleaners would have been different. Also, it was suggested that, if Hoover had bought Dyson, they could have 'shelved those patents'....... keeping all of that out of the market. But, it didn't happen.
I've heard all sorts of 'inside' stuff directly from North canton. It's amazing to actually sit back and listen to some of it.

Shark should just rerelease the original designs

I'm sure the necessary patents are up, the Thunder/Domestic is probably still the best performing cyclonic bagless released in North America.
