They arrived in a huge box.

The gold plated Eureka Princess. The Princess was their best selling vacuum ever, followed by the Model 9.

A damp cloth, and she's perfect again after sitting for decades on display - first in Bloomington (where Eureka used to be), then to North Carolina (where Eureka moved before going to China).

Wow...that is a beautiful Princess!
Interesting historical note about that sweeper from Berlin, Ontario. Eureka in some ways had its roots in Ontario because I think its founder Wardell was from Toronto. And Eureka's original home was in Detroit, right across the river from Windsor, Ontario. About a 2 hour drive from Detroit/Windsor is a city called Kitchener. If I am not mistaken, Kitchener was originally called Berlin before World War II, and changed it's name after the Nazi atrocities became known in North America. Eureka's Canadian division was set up as "Onward Manufacturing" in Kitchener, Ontario. Which is why that sweeper says "Onward" of Berlin. |
