I bought a used MG1 and I am noticing that air coming directly out of the rear (front?) exhaust vent on the main canister is hot, like really hot after a minute or so. There is no burning smell, no weird noise, all seems well but I am concerned. This really throws off a HUGE amount of heat. Is this normal? Do all vacs do this? Maybe I never noticed this before on other vacs. Are these motors thermally protected? If it's sucking in all this huge amount of air, exactly what is getting it THIS hot?

The exhaust should be warm, not "hot".Is the hose clogged?Bag full?or filters clogged? There is a filter on the front of the motor housing behind the paper-cloth bag.If this is clogged with very fine dust-could cause the motor to run too warm. There is a thermal shutoff in these machines-does this cut off the vacuum after its been run for awhile? It will reset on its own after half hour or so.Normal use of this machine will not trip its thermal sensor.

I'll observer this....

I can see using this in a small studio apartment it would warm the place right up! Seems normal ?? - will observe!! Ok the small removable PLATE over the vent is hot, not warm.
