~ I am in the process of going through stuff in my home -- "uncovering, discovering, discarding" as it were. I have a couple of boxes of old VCCC-related papers -- newsletters [some of them from the very earliest days of the club], master mockups of newsletters that I produced, photos, etc. etc. I'd hate to just pitch this stuff out. Is there an official repository somewhere for VCCC historical materials? If so I'd be happy to ship it at VCCC's cost to wherever it should go. |

I was going through all my old Newsletters from the beginning of the old VCCC. I was looking for pictures of Mike Hays. Since he passed away last Sunday, I've been thinking about him a lot. How he's responsible for getting the old Club into the Hoover vaults, and all the hours spent on the phone with him, as well as my time visiting him at his home in Ohio.
I'm glad I didn't pitch those old newsletters. They are a history of the old club and what it once stood for. |

~ I did not know Mike had passed away. I wish someone would have posted this sad news. So sorry to hear it. He was a very sweet and funny man.
The reason I want to pass on these materials to the VCCC is because I think they do preserve a bit of the club's history. However, I'm having to get my belongings pared down to a minimum and am really taking a merciless approach to doing so.
If anyone wants these materials they're welcome to them -- if it's someone in the greater Los Angeles area you're welcome to pick them up.
Thanks. |

Actually, Hans (aka KenKart) posted a note about Mike's passing in the Vintage section. it seems that messages like this are often posted in random spots and thus tend to slip through the cracks because there's no logical place to post them. Perhaps the mods might consider adding a "Community" forum as a place to post such messages about members instead of machines.
