I love love love these!!!
The very first vacuum I ever laid eyes on was a gold 1970s bottom of the line model 1260 with the beautiful wood grain power nozzle. She bought it new in 1978 (first introduced 1972-3) and used it 3 times a day 365 days a year up until 1989. I was 4 years old and I remember using it in mom's bedroom when the motor started arching and died. We dropped everything and went to town to buy a new Eureka. We came home with a nice brand new navy blue Eureka model 1779 and it's power nozzle had a headlight. oooo that was so cool to me! I still have that very cleaner today. Mom tells the story of me in the bassinet pulling myself up for the first time so I could watch her vacuum. |

oh ps. This black one you pictured was one of the very last of these made. They ended these around 1992ish. There was a black one, white one, and I was to say a rust colored one that all bore the name ironsides. I'm sure there were more in that last set in the early 90s but I can't remember them all
