The usual story, discovered her on the Land of Ebay, low starting bid, so I placed a bid on but thought it would go for far too much, but, to my surprise, I won her for £10.50 ($13.46) Complete with tools, box and manual.

It's in pretty good condition (usage/motor wise) regarding its age, very few light scratches and scuffs, the scuffs of which were easily removed. However, she had been summoned to the shed, and as a result, was very dusty and mucky and unfortunately, the box and manual had gotten damp at one point.

But, as for the machine, nothing a nice hot soapy bath and lots of TLC couldn't fix!

Before pictures as usual, followed by afters.

(Again, apologies for the pictures flipping upright!)

Filter completely disintegrated as per usual with 70's/80's machines.

Is that motor the Dial-A-Matic type or the Spirit type?

Glad the Service Book I had helped! I was fairly certain it would be the same for US and UK models, but was not 100% sure. If you hit any more problems, just give me a holler!

Ben that is a Dial-A-Matic type of motor. The spirit motors weren't as "Beefy" as the DAM motor, but they had a little more suction.

Andy,

I didn't know they were still using the DAM motor in March 1982! Though, I am sure while they already used the Spirit motors on our Portapowers during 1981, they continued using the DAM motors for the export machines (and I know the DAM upright itself, which to Europeans is the Convertible and to Aussies as the Dynamatic) was still being sold for export into the early 1990s), which hers is.

I want to say they swapped to the Spirit motor in the Porta-Power/Swingette machines around 1985. Someone with more precise information could either confirm or correct me there.
