So, as per usual, I picked this oldie from the Land Of Ebay for a bargain of £3.40 ($4.35) Managed to save on postage as it wasn't far from me at all.

But.. I had to take the risk of the possibility of it not running (or shot bearings) as the seller stated as there was no plug on it anymore, that they wouldn't bother testing it. And, there was no tools and it was missing its upper cord hook. But 'meh' for £3.40, why not?

But, seeing as this thread exists, she runs! And very well and smoothly indeed!

All that was needed was ~ New bags, filters, cord hook (which i 'borrowed' of an old spares lux) and a good wash and TLC.

Before pics first and then afters as per usual.

Some deep gouges and the "Floor Selector" lettering wearing off.

Tut tut! Looks like the previous owner used it bagless! (Or the bag split)

Daft idea...

Going to keep it fairly short and sweet. Chassis and everything was fully stripped down etc.

These are the reason these early Contour's chassis failed. They're only thin little pieces of plastic which wear down thus not being able to support the machine's weight causing the handle/machine to slip. Electrolux later fixed this by making it a physical handle release.

Replacement cord hook in place, doesn't bother me that it isn't matching. Fan chamber removed, unfortunately there's nothing much you can do with Lux motors as they riveted the fans together.

And finally, motor back in place.

And here she is after her TLC. Almost like new IMBO.

Hi Emma,

That's a lovely example from the very first Contour line up. Dated week 14 of 1991. You've done a great job with it, well done!
