Ok so i finally got of 652 hoover from a pawn shop, and blast my mind it was a pink one . i was so exited that i had to celebrate and got hold of some white wine, and ended up just staring at it. Im am as happy as a pig in $%#@, The last time i saw one in real live (any one of the shades) was when i was about 5. Some how they use to end up at the local Pietermarizburg dumping site. That was back in the 80s. So we would take them home, strip them for the insides and that was it. Could assault myself now come to think of it, way back then it was just clean fun. Well now they have vanished and if you do get hold of one, keep hold of it tightly. Education is important BUT A 652 hoover IS MORE IMPORTENTER. LOL

Just curious, what is it about the 65 that makes it mean so much to you? Surely it's not the 'pank' color. I've had a 65 for years (lucky the hood wasn't warped from the 25 watt bulb they stuck in there when new). It seems no different from any other Convertible. Personally, the 31 - with it's unique switch-in-the-bail - would seem to "me" to be more highly desirable. But - in any event - congratulations on obtaining a model that makes you so happy.

Well i remember them from child hood and those were happy days for me and the pink one on this die of the world is quite scarce so..... well i have a blue one and grey one as well. Tell you the truth ill never really know why i like them so much. I have a few vintage stuff so that just goes to the collection. My brother goes bananas over them as well, not sure what his reason for the like is but as you say we all have our favorites.

Welcome to Vacuumland dude.

Congratulations on your find, it is a rather rare thing to find in South-Africa, hence if you ever find one. The Aluminium Strip above the headlight and the distinctive Colour of pearl and rose is amazing. The Single speed motor as appose to the twin speed in later models were also remarkable in a stepping stone to the more developed models.

Enjoy it and should you have any questions as far as the history, dating etc goes, this is the group to be membered off. A group of people who has a passion all around the world, in every aspect of each model, strengths' and weaknesses, development manuals etc. Some even having a belter knowledge than the designer.

Have a look at John's vast collection of Hoovers in Ohio. Concourse, Original, in every Colour and model available. Tommy from Milan has a beautiful collection of "children" a must to see if you ever go to Italy. Tommy has an enormous range of Information on catalogues, manuals, dated and stipulated information you can het lost in for days at end.

Regards
Adrian.

So i heard that the globes for the 652 hoover are being discontinued, the fitting sections (Specific size) will not be available this side any more as they are being replace by LED, so i stumbled across a electrical store that had one box left. Gonna be buying some more of those before they run out, lucky a slow seller. I also managed to buy a Progress Vacuum cleaner. Nice little unit.

Awesome to see you on here bud. I buy bulbs from brights hardware store here in Cape Town, If you need some send me a whatsup and i will get some sent to you.
The bulbs never seem to last very long , more than likely from the vibration of the beater bars.

Dont forget to post some pics of the ones you got from Heinrich.
