Except mine is well used.. Lol..That was from about 1975. The lowest end canister you could get from Eureka! I do have the matching upright to that. |

It's a brand new little Princess!!! This design debuted in Lagoon Blue around 1961....yours must be from around 15 years later (mid 1970's). At that time, there was even a power nozzle version available.
Always wondered why this base model in the 1970's had a short, straight handle. Can't see how this could make the hose any cheaper to produce since all other Eureka vinyl hoses of that era had standard longer bent handles. This always mystified me. And must make it really uncomfortable to use with the other wands when vacuuming carpets. |

reply to eurekaprince : I loved vacs as a kid and I still do! Even though Electrolux is my favorite, I really liked Eureka's too! I would sprint to the vacuum cleaner displays in the appliance sections of WoolWorth , JC Penny, and Grants to see the league of Eureka and Hoover Vacuum cleaners on display! I will be saving this beauty as an antique! I would love to find a canned ham powerteam!
I hope that your having a good day! |

You were very lucky to have original Eurekas at your local stores, Keith - they were only available at specialized vac shops in Montreal when I was growing up. I had to be satisfied with Eurekas branded as "Eaton Viking" sold at our now deceased Eaton's department stores.
Here's one of my favourite Eureka TV commercials from 1970 - love the slow, calm, tranquil pace of the advertisement! To me, it reflected Eureka's understated design elegance - very calming and reassuring for an anxious kid like I was. CLICK HERE TO GO TO eurekaprince's LINK |

Eureka Keither! Planning on using it, or keeping it mint brand new? Where did you find it? I never see those in any resale store or garage sale. It's at the opposite end of my 1979-80 Eureka model 1279 and 1289 brandywines. |
