Hi all. Having a GREAT time. Tom has been a wonderful host. Starting to place faces with name. The museum is sooooo cool. Playing with coffee can Hoovers. On the other side, the cordless Simplicity is on a future buy list. Here's my "new" Kirby from Adam.

Having a blast. Just like the "old" conventions, where everyone liked each other and got along.

Frank Morgan arrived with a car full of vacuums. I snagged this brand new rainbow. It was a trade-in on a Kirby. He brought five of them.

having a blast

Just got back from seeing everyone's collections, just ordered out for dinner, a ST. Louis style pizza, and once I eat that, I'm going to go relax in the hot tub. I can't wait to see what other canisters Frank has brought, so far I'm hoping to take home 4 vacuums, an early model Airway, a compact C6, a Fairfax canister, not sure of the model yet, and a Simplicity Gusto. Also trying to convince someone to let me drive their car, but so far not having any luck with that, but I'll keep working on it. Looking forward to all of the food tomorrow and having more time to play with more vacuums, they say that too much of anything is a bad thing, I'm not sure if that's true when it comes to vacuums though, I guess it would be true if it prevents you from doing everything else that you need to in life, but still, vacuums are so awesome.

I'm having such an amazing time at the Convention. It definitely will NOT be my last one. Everybody is so nice, and there is no bickering whatsoever. Here are some of the machines I've already gotten.

Wasn't able to make i this year, I really wanted to too. Haven't got to make it out there since 2013. I know for sure next year I could make it, I was planning on next year for sure, but I guess I'll have to see if I'm allowed to go or not.

Hope everyone is having fun!

I don't see anyone trying out a wonder? Were there none to try or are images of them not yet releasable?

Looks like a good time is being had by all. I've wanted to make it out there for several years, but there's always so much going on, I don't know if I ever will. At least there are pictures.

Yes. The new Wonder was on display for everyone to use and see. Other people took lots of pictures as well. If you want to see what it looks like with the new Power nozzle, I will take some pictures. I have to go to the museum tomorrow anyway to take the leftover vacuums to the caring center, which is kind of like a goodwill.

I've seen a picture or two from the wonder line up photos as well as the vdta magazine. I was hoping to hear what others thought of it. As we approach it's release date I find myself wondering if it'll fulfill my high expectations of it.

convention was great

Hope everyone had as good a time as I did. The convention was great, the time went by so fast. I brought back 4 awesome vacuums. Tom, thanks for the Compact C6 and a great price on that Fairfax. I absolutely love the motor sound on both of them. Luke gave me a great price on an Airway model 55 that uses a G.E. motor, and Tom gave me a great price on a top of the line Simplicity Gusto. When I got back last night I was tired so I didn't try to unpack anything, I went to bed and slept like a rock. That will be my project for today, unpacking everything and taking the vacuums for a spin in my apartment. Right now my living room looks quite cluttered, but that will get better as everything gets put in to their proper place. The food Saturday afternoon was delicious, thanks to everyone who prepared it, give my full regards to the cooks for sure. The only thing I didn't accomplish was getting to drive someone's car, that will be a goal next year. Tom was a great host as always, saying goodbye to everyone is never enjoyable, but let's do it all again next year!

My new treasures

My wife didn't even complain about the new machines!

Coffee can Hoovers, Royal, GE, Eureka. Really stuck trying to figure out how to show these in my office.

unpacking my vacuums

Ok, started to unpack things, my compact c6 and simplicity gusto are in their new home, I actually have the compact in my bathroom closet along with my metropoliton canister. The Simplicity gusto is in the same closet as all of my canisters that can be stored in the stand up position. The airway and fairfax will be going in to my bedroom closet along with the volt, Henry and Lindhaus HF6, all of these vacuums are tub vacuums, they look kind of like wet dry vacs, but they are designed for dry pick up only. Actually the fairfax does have an attachment to allow wet pick up, but I think I will use an actual wet dry vac for that since I have 8 of them. Got all of the attachments unpacked and in my tote that holds all of my attachments and hoses. I also need to unpack all of the power nozzles that I brought to the convention, those go on the shelves in the closet with all of my stand up canisters. It was awesome trying all of the power nozzles on the carpet hooked up to the museum's central vacuum. Just grabbed some lunch and thought I would post an update, ok, back to unpacking everything, nothing like getting some new vacuums for your collection.

Todd:
Nice Eureka Special. That was the lower-priced model, available at the same time as the beautiful model 10, in the 1920s room of the vacuum cleaner museum. It was, in fact, just a model nine with a painted handle in gray. I'm so glad you were the one who got it.

Mike: Can't wait to hear what you think of the Fairfax.

ok, all done

Ok, I have found places for my 4 new vacuums, Tom, I love the fairfax, the sound of it reminds me of the very first wet dry vac we ever had when I was growing up, and I can drive my power nozzles with it too, since I have a lot of hard floors, I like to use my Centec CT10 nozzle to polish them, and the Fairfax works great with it, also love the Compact C6, that Ametek motor is one of the best sounding canister motors ever, no wonder so many manufacturers used it, it was a great sounding motor which worked very well. The Simplicity Gusto is also very nice, love the Wow floor tool that comes with it, I can see why so many people think that's such a great tool. As old as the Airway is, it still works great, that G.E. motor works very well. I actually ordered an electric hose for the compact, so once I get that I will be able to use power nozzles on that machine as well. My Fairfax is sitting in the closet right next to Henry, hopefully Henry does not mind another vacuum similar to him being there. It was a great convention for sure, I think for us collectors, it's just like being a kid at Christmas when we were young, we love the treasures that we take home with us, at both of the conventions I have been to, I came away with some wonderful vacuums at very good prices. Tom, do you think I would like the later Tristar models such as a CXL or DXL? There were a few vacuums that stood out for me this year at the museum too, there was a very nice Compact from 1976, looked similar to the one I have but a more powerful motor. And there was a very awesome airway that I got to play with, again, I don't know which model, but I bet Tom could figure it out. I think it had wheels, it had a pigtail hose and a power nozzle, and it was not the G.E. motor or even the Ametek motor that I am so fond of, it was more powerful, actually sounded similar to that 1976 compact. The time definitely went by too fast, let's definitely do it again next year.
Mike
