I noticed Walmart has now stopped carrying one of the only good things left from Hoover. The original Steamvac. Does this mean they are phasing out of this too? Luckily I own several of the 90's and Early 2000's Steamvac. I never pass one up in a thrift store because they are such solid machines. Current models of vacs and shampooers seem like such cheap junk. It's sad really.

Yep,

I noticed the same thing at our Walmart earlier this month. I think that red one for $129 is what replaced it, because it's new to Walmart stores. Who knows, it may be just as good, considering the original style still wasn't made as good as the 90's ones anyway. I'm very curious about it, because I need a new machine, and the red one caught my eye. If anyone has used that style, I would like to know what you think of it. All I have currently is the kenmore heavy-duty power spray, with spraymate head. I got it nos a couple of years ago, and thought I would really like it, and use it. I absolutely hate it. It's loud, awkward, hard to push, trigger hurts my finger, and it doesn't clean any better than anything else. I had wanted one for a long time, but if I had known how much I would hate using it, I would have passed. It does match my heavy duty kenmore canister vacuum, but that's the only thing it has going for it.

I think a lot of this has to do with Walmart themselves. They want you coming back buying more and you can't do that if something lasts. They just recently re-did all of the Bissell powerforce model's and if you took care of those they lasted a good while. Keep your eye on Hoover's website. If they take it down from there them you know it has been discontinued.
