I know to some of you it may not be pretty, but I absolutely love this machine. Hoover convertibles are one of my favorites and it brings my heart joy to find one as they are seldom seen in thrift stores around my area. It has a small tear in the bag but nothing major but other than that it runs really well and may need the brushroll greased if that's possible. I remember using one just like this at a beach house we stayed in when I was younger.
Any fellow collectors know more about this machine? Feel free to share because I would love know more about when it was made etc. I do believe that this is an earlier model due to it being a metal base machine, not plastic like the later models.
Thanks in advance!

How are the brush inserts? I have some Helix and Reverse Helix strips last I checked. Upper bearings and carbons as well.
Email me if you need any parts.

That's one of my favorite Convertible, love the color. It's a model 1030 and I believe is from the early 70s.

I have the "companion" Slimline canister to this in the lime green color.

Nice find! I'm sure it will clean up nicely. Give it a new belt and C bag and it'll be good to go.

I grew up with one of those. We got it in about 1971 or 72 and my parents passed it to me in the late '80s. I got rid of it in 1998 when I moved. It was a good machine and served its purpose.

The Brady Bunch machine you are refurring to John....

Is a 1020. What 4 machines are you missing out of that pic?

Just a note to the original poster for sake of education. The green 1020, is not Bali Green like your 1030. The 1020 is in Spring Green. Spring Green is more dull, and a more creamy green, then the sharp, edgy bright Bali Green.

Hoover

I was in high school when we got our 1020 Brady Hoover. Great machine. I recall how it vibrated the dirt out of our thick green living room carpet. We lived on a farm and a lot of dirt drifted into the house. The biggest treat was the throw a way bag. Our old GE upright was horrible to empty. It took both of my parents to get the bag apart and then put it back together, besides the cloud of dust when it was emptied. What a mess! They always took it outside to do it.
The other big plus was the easy to use converter. No more getting down on hands and knees to remove front cover and belt.Attachemnts never stayed on either. The 1020 had sturdy easy to use attachments. The only drawback was the weak hose suction. I wish I still had that old Hoover.
