The first measurement was easy to get, the last one (CFM at the nozzle) required me to build an airflow box. I think this pic should easily illustrate where and by how much CFM is lost in this machine. This machine has the highest nozzle airflow I've ever measured.
From the base of the machine to the nozzle, there is a loss of 177-137 = 40 CFM. This represents about a 23% loss from the direct air motor. Of course as the bag fills, the airflow will drop as well. Last note: the rug plate opening is fairly large (about 34 square inches) and the CFM density is well above average, about 4.1 CFM/Sq. In. If you ever wondered if this 23 lb. beast is capable of deep cleaning, it defines what deep cleaning is from a residential cleaner. Bill |

Oh wait! This just in from the EU! Kirby G10 series are completely mediocre on carpets and bare floors and completely fail the dust emissions testing. BUT, they do get an "A" for low power usage, so they can still be considered "green."
To my friends across the pond, the EU testing coalition has completely failed you. A Kirby G10 (Sentria, Avalir, etc.) that scored an average "C" on carpets and bare floors is utterly laughable. The Sentria and newer Kirbys are so powerful that they can pickup fine dust from below the carpet. In essence, they can clean the carpet underneath the carpet. Bill |

To me, it sounds like the Kirby cover-up has now been exposed. :) |

I'm not sure where this rating came from. I don't se it on their website.
I spoke to the MD of Kirby in the UK and he told me that the results were ridiculous and that they pulled out. But I agree with Bill the results on carpet are clearly flawed. As I've said many times the F rating for filtration is because of the carbon dust produced by the motor escaping. The Kirby does a very good job filtering the household dust. |

The EU label is hidden well on page 64 of the online instruction book. I was surprised that it gets the same rating as a straight suction Henry on carpets and floors. |

This was posted on my Facebook page which prompted me to find the genuine one. I knew it was fake when I saw the decibel and dust emission ratings.
