I'm refurbishing my Hoover U4521 Convertible upright and need a bit of help...
The white seal/gasket that sits in a groove on the plastic bottom plate is brittle and half of it is missing. I don't seem to be able to find a replacement.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use to make my own? I've thought of just running a bead of silicone and letting it set, but not sure that will provide a good or lasting seal. ??

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I just went to the hardware store and got a package of foam weatherstrip.
Cleaned out the old seal and put the weatherstripping in the channel.
