Since I have 2 D50's without them I am trying to find suitable replacements.

Were the original aluminum?

I have found someone who will order new ones from Kirby
Says about $8.50.

I have to inquire as to whether the new ones are aluminum
as I'd rather have it close to original & would love to find the original but buying a vac for the part is fine but then I got another machine to fix...LOL

Anyone has advise on the search for the top cord hook?
I think the 562, Sanitronic 7 & D50 San should take the same hook but I am not sure of that either.

Thanks

DS-50

My grandparents' DS-50 (long story) has its top hook. No idea if its original but it looks to be chrome plated steel. It also rotates to make it easier to remove the cord.

Hope this helps,
Dave

thanks if its just steel then maybe a new kirby one would be ok.

Don't think Kirby rebuilds them like new original
I have a rebuilt by kirby & they put in a plastic air reg under the light hood on the top of the head.
Still the rebuilt vac works good so guess that's main thing.
Fan is different too.

I have an original metal one on one of mine that needs a hook & thats very close to a real nice orig vac so I want that one to be set up as best I can

Thanks

The metal cord and bag hook for the D50 is a double back to back "J" (kinda looks like this: [jt]). Call the Kirby order hotline at 800-437-7170. Tell them exactly what you are looking for. The single hook part number is 49-6435-09 (Or part # 173673 might also work though this is a single loop, also.) Unfortunately, I cannot find that part number for the double J hook in any of my schematics.

Hope this helps.
