Inviting all to a vacuum Palooza in Memphis, TN

My collection must go! I am a pastor of a church and being reassigned to a different church. I cannot take the collection with me.

I have about 50 vacuum cleaners and a great deal of attachments. I have been a collector since 1998, but simply cannot keep them at this point.

I am inviting all to the church hall on Saturday morning, May 20, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

I ask that for each vacuum you make an appropriate donation to the church. Nothing will be considered too small. I am not going to haggle with anyone. Whatever doesn't go must be simply discarded at a Goodwill or something. I cannot take the time to sell them individually.

Address is St. Brigid Church
7801 Lowrance Road
Memphis, TN 38125

I ask that if you plan to come, it would be helpful to know. Simply email me at
frbruce@stbrigidmemphis.org. If you email me I will send hotel information. There are several very reasonable hotels within walking distance of the church.

Vacuums include:

Kirby-1C with all attachments in the original box.
Kirby Dual 50 with all attachments
Kirby Legend II Original Box all attachments -- almost like new
Two early model Hoover Constellations in very good shape with attachments.
Coffee can Hoovers.
A beautiful Hoover 150 with original box and all attachments.
A beautiful Hoover 28 with box and all attachments.
A Hoover Areodyne Model 51 with all attachments in original box
There are a number of Airways.
A number of Electrolux models.
A Compact -- I think C-6
Many others

Some pictures below.

I will post some additional pictures in the future.

Please do not give leftovers to GoodWill. They will end up tossing them. Give leftovers to a local vac shop. Please, make sure these go to a good home.

if I were nearby...

I would have given you whatever I had for that 1C Kirby. I am in Florida though, and I just came across this... if it's still there, would you ship?

What's left?

I saw this post a few weeks ago, but I forgot about it until I just looked at it again. I don't look on here very often lately. I mostly like canisters, such as Electrolux, kenmore, rainbow, etc, but some uprights too. Just wondered what was left over, and how long you have to get rid of them, or if you already did. I live 100 miles east of Memphis in Mcnairy County, but I grew up in Bartlett. If there's anything I really wanted I might could arrange to come, but not positive. Let me know if anything is still available. By the way... Happy birthday, Tom G. Hope it was a good one.... Looks like it.

I grabbed the Automatic E and the Compact for the two guys who were asking about them. I have the ability to pack and ship. Send me an email guys. The rest of the vacuums, the many that are left, are being brought to St. James to be given away at the vacuum cleaner convention, the second weekend in June at the vacuum cleaner museum.

birthday

Happy birthday Tom, was it May 20? That's my dad's brithday as well. If I could have driven, I would have been there for sure, unfortunately, being blind, that's not possible, at least not until the self driving cars become available. Since I'm not a fan of uprights, the canisters would have been my interest, probably the Electrolux and airway models. There's a particular Ametek motor that was used on many vacuums from the 1950's through the 1970's by many manufacturers, I would love to find a vacuum that uses that motor, very nice sound. Have all the vacuums gotten new homes? If you have any canisters left and are willing to ship, I may be interested.
Mike

Thanks Mike. Yes, it was May 20. That is also Cher's birthday. Can you believe she's 103? Anyway, I have a Compact for you, which I will give you at the convention, with the motor that you love in it. Father Bruce had two of them.

Huge thank you

To Father Bruce for doing this. I had a wonderful time. It was nice seeing Tom G.and Michael B. as well, we all chatted about vacuums and got to see Father Bruce's beautiful Model XII, that was a real treat. I'm glad these have found forever homes. I learned alot and had a great time. I also want to thank Clayton and his dad David for opening up their home to me. Clayton and I had a great time and I can't wait to get together again. Clayton has a great collection of TVs, Vacs, and Toilets. He also got some great stuff from the sale too!

Thank You again everyone and hope to see and meet others soon.

-Tyler

hose end

What hose end was used on those compacts? Was it the standard hose end or the end that Tristar now uses? I wonder when this particular compact was made. This motor has a very nice pleasant sound to it, very similar to the Electrolux G or 1205. I can see why so many manufacturers used it.

Standard friction fit hose and. If it has a power nozzle it's the standard and with the wand pick button.
It utilizes a dual stage Lamb-Ametek motor...very different from an Electrolux G or 1205.

I have a model C6 for you Mike. It has the motor you love in it, the sound you like, and a standard friction fit hose end. It fits the volt power nozzle perfectly. Disposable bags are still very common.

thanks Tom!

I can't wait to see this compact! Just wondering, any idea when it was made? When did compact or tristar start using the odd shaped hose end, was that when Aerus bought them? Man, I'm drooling over that compact already. I've also thought about trying to find an Airway from that time period, did Airways use a standard hose end? I know the Electrolux motor that was used in the Electrolux G and 1205 was completely different, but the sound and pitch of the Electrolux motor reminds me of that Ametek motor, what a contrast compared to all the jet screaming motors that vacuums use now.

The Compact I brought for your from Fr. Bruce's Vacuum Palooza was made in the mid 1960's. It's a model C6. You'll love the motor sound. It uses standard hose end, they didn't go to non-standard until Electrolux bought them in the late 1990's.

The Air-Ways of the 1970's have the wonderful Ametek motor and use standard 1 1/4 inch hose ends too. Both machines will fit your Volt and you'll love using them.

Convention is only 2 weeks away now - so excited. Don't know how I'll fit 60 people (confirmed coming) into my house for a cocktail party?

very excited too

Yes, can't wait for the convention, if I can ever find an airway from that time period, I will probably get it as well, they just don't make them like that anymore. Hopefully that compact will be just as happy in its new home as the three vacuums I broght home last year. Perhaps I'll be able to get some other canisters as well.
