Hello all, So, last Thursday I took the slightly impulse dissension to purchase the new Henry Cordless! I got the new cordless Henry from Argos, the "magical catalogue shop" we all remember as kids! Lol...The lady on the till, (Ann, I believe her name badge read) had a rather disconcerting look about her, as she charged my debit card for £299.99. I got it home and quickly realised after I unboxed it, that Henry Cordless was actually based on the (also new) Henry Compact HVR160, in terms of size, as it was smaller than the regular Henry HVR200. I love this new cordless Henry, I can't get over how cute it looks! It is the most powerful cordless vacuum I have ever used, it really does pack a punch, in my opinion, while using only a 36v battery and a 300w motor. It is very well made, of course, like all Numatic products, made right here in the UK! Here is the unboxing video if any of you are interested, if not, look for the photos further down. :) The demo video will follow after the photos. Thanks for reading, Alex. |

It is interesting that the Henry Cordless has the older style twin pedal carpet and floor nozzle and not the newer type one. Here you can see Henry Cordless has the new moulded on "wand docking" and on-board tool storage! The other models in the Henry range, as well as Hetty and Harry, also have these features. |

The battery sits where the cord rewind would normaly be and is realised for charging by pressing the red button. This post was last edited 04/18/2017 at 20:35 |

What an adorable new version of Henry! I'm glad the initial impressions of his cleaning power are so positive. While we don't see much of him stateside (apart from cruise ships) I've always been impressed by it and Numatic as a company. |

Excellent battery system - the vac can be stored in a closet where there is no power supply while the battery packs charge up somewhere else.
Two more questions, if I may: a. do you think airflow would be strong enough for a mini turbo nozzle for car interiors and stairs? b. are lithium batteries difficult for municipalities to safely dispose of? I've always been a bit leery of the environmental impact of all these batteries from cordless devices. |

stormcrash, yeh, it is so small! It makes the normal Henry look huge! Lol.
Eurekaprince, I have teied it with the carpet turbo nozzle, which is the 12" width, the went around when contacting the carpet but it didn't go around very fast, unlike the regualr Henry, which nearly make the brushroll fling out the nozzle it goes that fast! Henry cordless might fair better with a mini turbo head, I will have to try...As I say, I have only tried the standard carpet turbo nozzle, the "Airobrush". Batteries can be dispossed in special bins over here, I believe. |

The newest models of Henry and other Numatic cleaners use a 620w single fan motor. The power of it is no different that I can detect to the older 1200w twinflo motor, (older Hi/lo switch and autosave models) if anything, I think the new 620w motor is more powerful and is slightly quieter. The Simplicity sounds interesting! Do you have a photo of it? |

Thank you for that information Alex. Excellent video by the way!
McHardy vacuum in Canada sells a full line of Numatic vacuums, including one with a power nozzle. Maybe they will get the new cordless Henry, too. Here's a link: CLICK HERE TO GO TO eurekaprince's LINK |

Henry's were and still are designed for commercial use and since nearly all commercial carpet in the UK is glued down, tightly woven, VERY low pile carpet, a powerhead is really not neccasery and would make the machine more cumbersome and inconvenient to use. Numatic did offer the option for a powerhead to be plugged into the back on standard Henry models back in the 80s and 90s. In the early to late 2000s Numatic did away with power take off socket on standard Henry models and offered specific models with a powerhead (HenryTurbo), I am not sure if you can get a Numatic cleaner with an electric powerhead at all now?! Electric powerheads have never really been wanted by the consumer on cylinder vacuum cleaners in the UK, if people wanted their cylinder to have a brushroll they just bought a turbobrush or bought a vacuum that came with one, which Numatic do too, the Henry Xtra, a Turbobrush on a regular Henry spins extremely fast and is very effective. electromatic - Yes, haha, kids are obsessed with them! Don't let the smiley face fool you though, they are a true proffesional vacuum cleaner. tolivac - The bag was changed after the demos, not because it was full...Just to give it a true demonstration of the suction power at the end of the video, the suction was not really reduced with the dirt filled bag, was just to make it fair. eurekaprince - Thanks for the link, some interesting looking models there! And you're welcome. 😊 Alex. |

I think it is more expensive because of what it is, cordless vacuums are expensive! The casing has been redesigned to allow the battery to seat in the top, the motor for the cordless Henry has also been redesigned, it is smaller and not the standard type...Plus the lithium ion batteries, which you get two and give you 60 minutes cleaning time, between both! Changes in design and new products are always expensive at first...Has to pay someones wages and pay for new mouldings/technology, etc. They will probably come down in price, but they only came out in February, so they are atill very new! If they do reduce the price, Numatic will probably have a battery pack sacrificed. People always want "out for nout"! |

This thread has reminded me that the time has come for Miele to try again to design a battery-powered power nozzle for canisters. I don't mean a large upright attachment like the Volt. I mean a battery operated carpet nozzle included with a deluxe C3 canister that will eliminate the need for bulky electrified wands and hoses. Hopefully the lithium technology has advanced to the point that such a power nozzle could be used for a good hour in a large home without needing a recharge. Or at least provide a set of two or three battery packs (charging separately in its own charging base) that can provide "ready-to-go" back-up power for large carpet cleaning jobs. Would certainly clean better than air-driven turbo nozzles.

Thanks for that Mike! I still prefer using a separate upright vac to finish off a room being cleaned. I prefer to back out of a room starting from the area farthest from the door and uprights are better suited for that.
I just think that with the improvement in battery technology and the proliferation of more powerful cordless vacs and robot vacs, it's time to revolutionize the way power nozzle canisters provide power to the brush roll motors in their deep cleaning carpet nozzles. And new fancy lithium batteries would really do the trick. |
