I love the self sealing Oreck CC bags and the HEPA versions. They hold a ton of dirt and are pretty cheap. I love the dock on the Orecks too; makes bag changes a snap. | ||

Hoover and Elux...
Generally, I don't run bags often, unless it is on my later model hoovers such as 61,62,62 etc. Also my Elux LX takes a bag. Of all bags, I prefer the Elux C bags, Hoover c and w bags, and well this probably isn't really what you meant by bag I bet, but the very old and obsolete shakeouts. I have only really had experience with those bags...

The Bag that Started It All - Air-Way!!!
The Sanitizor bags, used in ALL canister Air-Way vacuums, were the world's first drop-in sanitary 14 layer cellulose dust containers. Even came with a seal for the small hole the dirt goes into. Printed on the seal was this explanation: "Dirt = Disease = Death". Air-Way advised to throw the filled dust container into the incinerator, or burn it ("cremate the germs") with your household trash. | ||

I only buy 9-ply bags with self-sealing hose hole. Needs to hold over 4 liters as well. By coincidence, Miele makes such a bag. | ||

Electrolux Ultra Long Performance S-bag
I like these, because they keep the suction very long time even when they are full suction decrease is small. Filtration is also very good. Bag compartment stays spotless when using these. Also these are very popular and finding these is really easy.
Not the cheapest, but well worth it.

I'll throw my lot in for the Oreck Saniseal bags. They're so much larger than a lot of other vac bags, and the dock makes it easy on the occasions when you do need to change bags. | ||

My favorite bags are whatever I can get cheapest for my machines. That's usually a Kirby Generation 3 or a generic Envirocare paper bag for the Kirbys, and my Electrolux cansiters get Multifilter 4-ply paper bags. I got a motherlode of genuine Hoover G bags for my two QuikBrooms on eBay last year, so I won't need to buy any of those for a long, long time.

Electrolux Type C bags and Air-Way/Air-Tec Bags. Either one are very easy to change, but the Air-Way/Air-Tec bags filter the best. When I use my stock of Air-Way bags, I will cut the Sani Lid off and try Tom's suggestion so as to be able to still use the vacuum. There are generic available, but I doubt they would filter very well.....
As far as F & G, I buy Powr Flite bags or use the Sanitaire F&G Premium. Both filter about the same..... PR-21 Bud | ||

In terms of pure quality it has to be the new HyClean bags from Miele. Superb filtration and no noticeable airflow loss even with a bag thats 95% full | ||

Im with Tom G The old AirWay cellulose bag is the best, second would be the Hoover Handisac, either one of them filter as good as anything ever made I think.I cut Handisacs down and use them in tanks with cloth bags and they work great! | ||

Of the bagged vacuums I've used
the Electrolux C bags. Why?
A) they are SUPER cheap - I check the tank when changing the bag with a white damp cloth and there is never any dirt in the bag chamber, which amazes me considering I use my Lux to suck out the bin of my Shark Rotator. I bought a pack of 100 bags on Ebay years ago for 35.95 and I still have a lot left. B) they are super easy to change. My least favorite was the Kenmore Canisters because the design leaks dust the way the bag connects, although I loved the Kenmore canisters themselves. Having said this - I'm sure there are much better bags out there. I've just never had the opportunity to use a lot of them. | ||
