hers shotmotor area w rust

I cleaned it up s much as I could
got all the way down to the bottom gasket
at least to remove friable loose rust so as it is less likely to break off & cause havoc

It should gain some good useful lifetime over the way it was before

why do new filters say pre filter?

is this because now they have other filters.
Is the prefilter the same as the old white cones?

Hope so

I think the idea of a pre-filter is that it comes before another filter in the airflow path. I'd imagine that newer Filter Queens have additional filters that the air would hit after it passed through the cone.

but the old units took one filter ..the white cone
this is the white cone
just want to be sure this is the same white cone
as when it was the plain white cellulose filter

they had a smaller motor filter in the unit
didn't cover as it should

anyway hope my labor cleaning the motor casing was beneficial
even though I didn't get all the rust you see in the pic
its smoothed metal & cleaned out the rust particles down there

this came from colorado
very rusty!

does the motor itself look ok?
it was clean inside

what the flat disc filter (pre filter). It comes into play if you ever put the GUINE cellulose filter in wrong. THis is safegaurd on the motor. Now with modern filter queeen these are almost never needed because of the medi pure filter. I would really recomend these filters because they stop any odors. Its nice if you like me who has a few filter queeens and if you switch from one to another you dont get that dog smell when ever you turn it on. I really like fqs good deisgn good pick up.

That 'dog smell' comes from having...um...dogs. 3 big hairy beasts as I recall.

All my FQs, and other vacs, smell like fresh cat which from kittenhood to old age smell like clean neutral earth dirt to me. Just nuzzle your nose into a cat's fur and judge for yourself. Now try that with a dog... :-)

this I think is a 86 D31X
have been told the older gaskets don't take the new double filters too well
but it appears my black gasket is not original
but it doesn't look like the newer wide flat top gaskets'
as its beveled

no dog here
just a 100 gram bird.

I've cleaned that unit totally
no smell anywhere
really is a breath of fresh air

not quick or fun to change filters & clean out glasket etc
buyt I like the way is works & is quiet

Should be better now wo all that rust crude that was on the bottom of the base of the motor by a gasket I guess whiuch seperates the fan which I didn't get to or open.

I have the enviropure
came w the maint bundle but I;m going to do a cleanout w the reg filter as not to muck it up

still getting that gray powder
so hopefully this machine will take care of it

tiels make powder on the feathers & he's gray but how can a 3 oz bird make a pound a dust I don't know

LOL

too bad I didn;'t get a pic all cleaned up but I got the darn thing together after dark outside on the workbench & was just glad to get it back together

don;t like the lock nuts on the unit
seem a bit cheap too me
but its together n works

I vac a few times a day & today this guy picked up a big clump a muck

Its endless
