then I now have a collection of Filter Queens! After finding my Filter Queen LE a couple of years ago at the Goodwill Outlet store, I have been keeping my eye open for an older model. Yesterday while cruzin' the bins at the same store I found a model 31 with matching PN. It came with a second non-electric wand since the PN is hard wired to its own wand. It is missing the hard floor tool and could use a new electric hose since it is repaired with duct tape. Everything cleaned up beautifully and looks great, especially for what I assume is about a 45 year old machine. Both the vacuum and the PN run like new! Yesterday I took a risk and passed on buying it because at 99 cent per pound it would have been $30.00. If you don't buy it they put a price sticker on it, put it on the floor then mark it half off until it sells. This morning I got it for $15.00. It was well worth it!

My mom bought a FQ (here in Canada) around 1972 and it came with the same power nozzle/wand setup in the same salmon colour although the FQ power unit was in brown as were all the tools. The electrical cord from the power nozzle was attached to the outside of the wand with screw on clips so that the cord was not detachable. The cord was one piece from the power nozzle up to the top of the wand i.e. there was no male/female connector at the bottom to allow it to detach. There was enough slack in the cord however so that the wand could be removed from the elbow.

That was new in 1974. It was called the Powr-Kleen-Up Team. Note the hose's pigtail cord leads are not removable from the hose. Filter Queen would soon learn to make those removable, as well as make the wand removable for other uses. Yours is an early model. At the time, you could get the machine with the straight suction hose, S-wands, and rug tool (along with the felt pad which fit the rug tool for bare floor cleaning). Or, you could get the S-wands and either a 10 inch or 15 inch dedicated bare floor tool In any event, you have a somewhat rare machine configuration. | ||

Thanks for the information. It's nice to find out that I have something unusual. Maybe I will find a matching hard floor tool some day. I'm currently looking for an original electric hose. I wonder if the 31 and LE used the same motor? The 31 seems at least if not more powerful. The 31 is rated at 1080 watts and 120v (9 amps?) while LE is rated at 7.6 amps, 8.6 with the PN.

Since I learned that my Filter Queen 31 PN is a 1974 early and unusual configuration, I thought I would post some pictures of the hard wired cord from the PN, clipped to the wands, and the connection to the hose. Also today I replaced the ugly duct tape with Gorilla clear repair tape until I find a matching replacement hose.
