These videos are kind of interesting, this first one is of a Kenmore from 1972, I think the power nozzle may have a problem though. I was hoping to be able to tell what the motor on the suction unit sounded like, but you can't hear it because the motor of the power mate is so loud. Did any of the Kenmore power mates sound like this? It kind of sounds like a loose baring in the motor.

And here is another video of a Kenmore from around 1978, this one has a much better sounding power mate and the suction motor sounds good as well, compared to the screaming motor sounds on today's vacuums.

You may want to check out the other videos on his channel as well, he has lots of vintage vacuums.

These are from our own Chad S, and they both use a Lamb Ametek motor. The Power nozzle that is loud would have sounded like that brand new. Poor design.

no, those early 70's era pn's really were that noisy. ive heard a 73 sears best in person. it wasnt until the mark IV pn from late 1973-1981 did they fix that noise. i think it had something to do with the rug plate having poor mounting to the shell over the motor. it just vibrated really badly.
