Hi Vacuumland Members I own a Hoover Guardsman Model C14129. It was manufactured in the 1980's. If anyone knows how to date these types of Hoovers please let me know. The Serial Number is:089900113200.

Spencer....

Hoover made after 1987 can be dated by the first 4 digits of the serial number. So in this case 0899, equals August of 1999. I can tell you right now, just by looks I can tell you its not from the 1980's.

Thank you very much. Even though it's orange it was made in 1999. I'm also looking for a Type A or shakeout bag for it. If anyone has either of those please let me know.

Steel City Vacuum is still able to sell the complete type A bag assembly for about 50 bucks.

Oh!, (for Andy);

he meant the date of manufacture!
At first, I thought, I'd rather date a bodyguard-man.

My Guardsman is Orange. What years were the Guardsmans produced in that particular color.

Hoover has had Orange as a commercial color for many years! It really just depends on the time and the machine as to whether the machines were orange bag/ white hood, orange bag/ orange hood, orange bag/black hood. Gray and black bags have been around for a while too. I'm sure someone has commercial catalogs for the various periods.
