So is there a downside to using a narrow PN1 style belt on a PN4? I've actually seen some eBay sellers advertising the narrow belt as being compatible with a PN2-PN4 in addition to the PN1, even if they also stock the wider belt.
My PN4 has the narrower belt on it and seems to work okay but I'm thinking of changing it out for the proper one and just keeping the narrow belt as a spare for my PN1. |

Yeah, that's probably what I'll do. Looking at the gears, both at the motor and brush roll ends, there are shiny spots the same width as the belt, which indicate to me that narrow belt has been on there for quite a while already. And as you say, the wide belts are cheap and readily available whenever that narrow one finally does give up the ghost.
