I am searching for a Electrolux , light grey metal canaster with dk. blue trim. I think it was the Grand Marquise . It was the last metal canaster Electrolux made. I would love to find one in excellent condition with original motor and acessories. Great working condition. Please contact me if you have one to sell.

Last metal Electrolux

I was told by the dealer that sold it to me was an Ultralux Classic (It was dark blue and white or light gray?) the Lux you are discribing I have was an Ultralux LX. And I just gave one of those away yesterday...

The model 1521 was the last of Electrolux USA's metal cylinder vacuum cleaners. The major changes in performance and/or accessories were marked with color and name changes.

Here's the entire list of 1521s by production years:

1984-87 Diamond Jubilee--sand w/jade trim (some with name decal); PN5 or PN6
1987-88 Marquise--taupe w/sand trim (no name decal); PN6A
1988-89 Grand Marquise--light sand w/navy trim (no name decal--smooth cover trim); PN6A
1989-90 Legacy--light sand w/navy trim (no name decal--textured cover trim); pn 1622
1990 Ultralux--light sand w/navy trim (w/name decal); pn 1622
1990-91 Ultralux LX--light sand w/navy trim (w/name decal; pn headlight); pn 1692
1992-93 Ultralux Classic--navy w/light sand trim (w/name decal; pn headlight); pn 1693

All had braided hoses with the chevron tracers in colors that matched the machines. Tool colors were either sand or light sand. At one point the short crevice nozzle was replaced with the conventional crevice tool. I think another change was making the floor brush standard and the combo floor/rug tool optional. The Rug Washer was an option with the DJ. The Sidekick was an option beginning with the Marquise.

The Ultralux Classic colors were alternated to match the new Epic 6000SR (plastic body and w/onboard tools), but I think it was the same as the Ultralux LX in performance and accessories.

We bought our Diamond J new in 1984 and it seemed just three yrs later the Sidekick....but I could certainly be off base. That works in your timeline though...barely.

Cstylist,

I have the Ultralux Classic (blue body, sand trim). I also have a powerhead that looks like it was original equipment. I have a blue-braided hose that looks like an original but one can only guess how air-tight that is.
The attached picture was taken in 2008 when I got it. It looks substantially the same. I use this unit monthly but I also have others.
Let me know if that interests you. I'm in MN.

Model 1521 Canister - Ultralux

Cstylists,

I'm sorry but I just noticed that you responded immediately to my contact. I had never looked in the Super Market section before!
Mine is a model 1521 and it says Ultralux Classic. The colors seem reversed from what you are seeking but the rest seems to match.
I use it regularly and it works well. Motor sounds good as does the powerhead (power nozzle). Last spring I opened the power nozzle and cleaned and inspected it. Everything looked good there.
It does not look like a replacement motor.
Price: I'd like $150 plus shipping. Sidekick would be $10.
What other pictures would you like? Inside of canister where paper bag sits? Close-ups? Inside lid to verify Model #?
Again, I apologize for the delay in response. I'll monitor the right section from now on and respond promptly.
Jasper
