Any info about this Hoover Junior 1334 and floor washer 		[Down to Last]

Hi. Could you help me with this Hoover Junior. I bought these nice machines yesterday. How old this Junior might be? It's rating plate looks quite strange. And what is the idea of this paper dust bag witch is open with both ends=) there is still this original metal clamp on. Same than constellations but narrower.

This carpet/floor cleaner is also a new thing to me. I have seen some of them early but without this water tank.

Hoover 5460 scrubber

 I can't pin down the date, other than late 1960's. I have a 5131 that I just found a solution dispenser for. Pretty neat.

Hoover Junior

 Oooh, probably made at the Cambuslang Hoover factory, in Scotland!
The rating plate will have the British Standard Kite mark, which denotes that it complies with the electrical tests of that time period.

I think that model appeared about 1962, or later.
Is it a plastic hood, with a round foot switch?

The earlier 1334 (1958 - 62), was white painted metal hood with a rectangular foot switch, and pink outer bag.

I think the early Hoover paper 'Disposall' bags did indeed have both ends open. I remember my gran said that they were made of very thin paper.

I believe is a W style bag. With that clip on the top I'm pretty sure of it. those bags are IMPOSSIBLE to find. You will have to modify a C bag to fit it by cutting 2 staples and fitting it and restaplign it

Paper bag fitting

 I see in your photos, that there appears to be a bit of wire holding the paper bag in place, on the bag support tube.

The original fixture would have been a helical spring 'bracelet', which you rolled down to release the paper bag. When the new bag was in position, you would roll the spring back up, to anchor the bag on the support tube.

Later cleaners (eg; Hoover Junior U1104) had a grey rubber ring to anchor the paper bag.

It was also quite common to use a 1334 drive belt, in the absence of the proper paper bag anchor ring.

The grey bags were superseded by the bright yellow/orange 'H1' Hoover bags. They, in turn, have been replaced by the unbleached brown version, linked below...

These were the original Disposall bags first seen on the 638 Senior and the 1334 Junior. The end of the bag that fits on the dust tube came pre-folded and stapled to fit the dust tube. To empty the bag you removed the metal bag clip at the other end. The next generation dustbag did away with all this, it was still grey and gave you the instructions of how to fold the bag around the dust tube. Obviously a cost saving exercise. The yellow H1 bags came after that, not sure when the colour change happened. I have a few new old stock of these original bags with the folds and staples. They were also made of quite hard wearing paper.

Hoover bags

 Thank you for your answers. Yes the vacuum body is with plastic hood and with foot switch. I have to test drive this but first it needs some cleaning and a new belt on it. I found some original dust bags with different colors.
