I've recently learned about a vinyl hard floor adapter that may have come with earlier Tristar (CXL DXL) models, that allowed the hard floor tool to be used on carpets. I am guessing that they are rare these days. Anybody know about these and if they can be found? I would be interested in one.

I actually have 1. Like Antoine suggested above, I picked one up on Ebay with a floor brush. I already had the floor brush, but wanted it since the main areas of my home are hardwood floor with some scatter rugs at the entrance and on stairs. So this would be a good way of doing hard floors AND the scatter rugs without needing 2 tools, right? Wrong!
What I found was that although the floor brush does a great job on floors, the moment you put the rug adapter in place and try to clean a rug, it doesn't do such a great job. Just seems to have less suction with it on. And it's not the vacuum either - I have tried this with my TriStar CXL, Patriot and Miracle Mate, all with the same result. In addition, I have also found that the rug adapter fits very loose and can fall out of place easily, and like another former poster mentioned years ago, Danemodsandy, it can smush the floor brush bristles too. If you want 1 to complete your TriStar, great, get one. But, if you intend to actually use it for area rugs, get a Wessel Werk rug/floor nozzle that has the lever that pops down the floor bristles when going to hard floor. I already have 1, and trust me it works much better. Try the one in the link below. CLICK HERE TO GO TO kirbylux77's LINK |
