Eureka 1934a keeps breaking belts first I thought it might be a bad batch but I found different ones and they broke too almost immediately. I bought a new brushroll and that belt broke with that one too. The machine is seven years old but not used often low mileage. And I use it mostly on non carpeted hardwood flooring.

'use it mostly on -- hardwood flooring"

In my opinion wrong tool for the job!I would only use hose, wands and floor attachment with bristles on upright attachment kit, any size canister or central vac.
Opinions of others??

These are only meant to be used on carpeting. Maybe the brush has no resistance due to being on hardwood flooring and it is spinning too fast which is breaking the belt.

The Eureka Boss 1934 is for vacing rugs & carpets ONLY; unless U have the tools & converter adaptor

I have the attachments but I have always used it on the hard floor and a Eureka 2070 before that and never had a problem with belts.

I would agree. A classic upright which has no option to turn off the brush roll should never be used on bare floors as the bristles and beater bar are not designed to remove dirt from a bare floor surface. In fact, the spinning brushroll is counterproductive on a bare floor and has a tendency to scatter and blow dirt away, rather than sending it up into the suction path.

Maybe the beater bars are hitting the bare floor in certain places, or hitting thresholds between rooms, or edge hardware? Or maybe your have a bump or warp in one of your floors that the brushroll keeps hitting, thus straining the belt?

Truth is, if you don't use this on carpets, you don't need the brushroll. Remove the belt and brushroll and let the suction do the cleaning for you. Problem solved.
