Ugh, no you don't. Not if you want any actual cleaning done. Used carpet cleaners, no matter the make or model, almost always smell like mildew and cat piss. A lot of times they have gross mildewy dirt and carpet fibers everywhere. Go for a new one.

Maybe check your local thrift stores to see if they have any Hoover Steamvacs in good condition and at a good price.
