The local dealer has priced the Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum at $2,300 and will allow a trade in of $300. I don't want to trade the old machine in and I really don't want to pay that much for the vacuum. Does anyone know where I can buy this vacuum at a better price? I don't mind paying shipping. The old posts suggest that I should be able to find this unit for much closer to $1,000 than what this dealer is quoting.
Thanks for your help.

That's an old sales tactic; offer a high amount for trade-in when all they're really doing is shaving off the new price and added that to the wholesale price of your old unit......in some cases, your old unit to them is worth 0.

There is a HUGE amount of latitude in selling products like these from a dealer. Kirby even has a sliding scale down to some low point when the homeowner is about to throw the salesperson out on the sidewalk.

Hopefully, someone will chime in on how they got the price down to around $1,000.

Kevin

Wait til the end of the month

Commissioned sales people are often more motivated at the end of the month due to sales contest, and bonuses for number of units moved.

I got my LGP for under $500, End-of-month-gotta-move-boxes deal.

Mine is the 90th anniversary model, a very impressive machine. I,like others have mentioned, would only use the cloth like bags, the blue paper bags are just not strong enough for the power of this machine and have heard of frequent failures.

It's not new, but a far cry from $2000+ you've been quoted!

There is another listed on Ebay, New $1,350 buy it now.

Just remember when buying from Ebay, or other online sales that the very long 15 year warranty is not valid.    This fact usually doesn't bother me for machines that rarely have anything go wrong.  But since this Lux is highly electronic it's just something to consider; as a repair would be on you if needed.
