Here is a very early AD, for the BeeVac, when Birtman still had their factory downtown Chicago at Desplains and Lake St. The factory is still there. The pic isn't the greatest, but that front access plate looks to be about spot on. The machine above, may very well be an earlier model. I'd wager, probably the first one. I agree that some gentle cleaning of that front plate may give you a bit of info. Not sure.

It's a Birtman/Sears Energex! The one below is slightly different, with a rounded badge, but early ads show the bell shaped one as well.

Here is another version. The second ad in reply 5 shows the bell shape. Now I will say, they used 3 different motors. The can-like one shown by the original poster with oil ports, the same style, but with ball bearings that don't need oil(like mine), and the rounded, Birco branded motor, like the one in the previous link.
