I'm curious about this. I've seen several F and G bag conversions and I've heard tell that there is a significant loss in performance with those. If so, why is that? I enjoy the Classic 3 I have but I don't enjoy the dust leakage from the shake out bag set up. Id like to hear thoughts on this. Thanks!

The F&G bag conversions are flawed in that the outer bags are too small to accommodate the size of the inner bag which results in bag bursts because they restrict airflow a lot. I wonder how a genuine Eureka or Sanitaire outer bag would perform on these.

In a nutshell, Paper bags offer more resistance to airflow than the cloth bags. The older Kirby motors were not powerful enough to push the air through paper bags at the same airflow rate as cloth bags. The Kirby Heritage was the first Kirby to have a 6 amp motor which was powerful enough to maintain full airflow through paper bags.

Even the tradition had restricted airflow but that's because the filltubes were small.

Older model Kirby's work very well with the Heritage II bag set up. I agree that the Tradition was not great with the disposable bag set up they first came up with.

As for the F&G bag conversion stay away from it. It is a poor design. As the bag fills with dust and dirt it will block off the paper top fill tube thus reducing performance. Go with the Heritage II set up with the mini emptor you will not be disappointed with it on any earlier model Kirby.
