Please keep Arlee and me in your thoughts today. I'm taking Dixie Sue to the vet at 3:30 for her journey to the Rainbow Bridge.

We have loved her deeply and will miss her greatly, but she's failing fast and it's time to relieve her of her suffering.

We've seen this coming for a while: She has been sick since November. She did have a brief time of feeling better but then very rapidly started getting worse again.

Here are some photos of her, more or less in chronological order. The first two were taken by her previous owner before we adopted her.

Thanks to all of you for your love and concern.

My thoughts, too.

You know it's the last, saddest, and kindest thing you can do.  So many of have been at this doorstep, and will again.

Let your heart rest knowing you were so very kind to her. May she rest now, too.

You were definitely blessed to have a little extra time with her through the holidays and yeah, it's hard sometimes to accept the inevitable. I know from experience it can feel like it's tearing a hole in your soul but it truly is the last, loving gift you can give her. So hold your two pups close tonight, remember Dixie Sue, and know beyond a doubt that she knew you and Arlee both loved her very much. Peace be with you all...

I'm so sorry to hear this, but the best you can do when a pet is suffering is say goodbye.

I'm sure you know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I was going to relate a similar experience, but it would probably be taken as inappropriate.

My thoughts and sympathy are with you.

Kevin

I'm very sorry to hear this...  But, you had a lot longer with her than you initially expected, and that was a blessing.

May she rest in peace.

Loss of a beloved pet

Charles, I am so sorry for your loss of Dixie Sue. While I haven't made any comments, I have been following her progress for some time now, and was glad that her health had improved somewhat so you were able to spend more time with her than originally thought. I completely feel your pain in this regard, as my Molly crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night as well. He had been fine on Sunday, then yesterday morning acted like he didn't feel good. By yesterday evening, he was lethargic and pale, so I rushed him to the vet as soon as I got home from work. They kept him, ran tests on him and attempted to stabilize him, but he was just too weak to pull through. He was only 4 years old, so it's quite a devastating blow, and I'm sure going to miss that ball of fur laying between my legs each night. I have no idea how I'm going to tell my kids this evening that he's not coming back home.....I just feel heartbroken....

Steve, I'm also sorry for your loss of Molly. Sometimes there are just no words other than "I understand."
