It's a Regina money made vacuums, polishers, and some carpet cleaners, well into the 90's. I don't know enough about them to know what year it is though. I'm guessing 60's. I'm sure someone here will know exactly. I thought it was a Westinghouse when I first saw it, because some of theirs looked almost just like this. I don't know if there is any connection or not. It looks like it's in really nice condition. Love the color.

That came from our Canadian Regina Company plant in Welland, Ontario....not far from Buffalo, New York. The plant went through a few transformations as corporate identity changed: from Regina to Iona (they both made Canadian Elektrikbrooms) then onto Fantom Technologies. I guess the Electrikbroom which had a cup "which you empty like an ashtray!" was the parent of the bagless Canadian version of the cyclonic Dyson....

Does anyone notice the similarities to Water Matic here? Did Regina have anything to do with WAter Matic?

Its a Regina made by Switson Industries in Welland, Ontario, Canada in the mid to late 1960s. Switson Industries (Later named General Signal Appliances) made similar machines under various names for many different companies.

eg: Baycrest (Hudson Bay Co), Bradford (Zellers), Coronado (McLeods), Eatonia (Eatons), Fairbanks Morse, Mastercraft (Canadian Tire), Regina, Switson, Valliant (Eatons), Viking (Eatons), Watermatic, Waverly (Simpsons).

This is a Coronado model D150 from 1964 (as yours is a D147 it would have been produced around the same time)

All the Switson machines used D prefix model numbers then changed to V prefix when the name changed to General Signal Appliances (The numbers were consecutive though so you can figure out approximate first production date by comparing them to known dates)

Note: Switson also manufactured Kirby in Canada under contract.

Thanks for all the input everyone! As I said I don't know much about this little guy. It is extremely heavy and has been through a lot of abuse through its life. My grandfather even used it as a sawdust collector in his workshop. It has suction to spare in spite of its size. Now it spends it's days collecting cat hair and litter from the nooks and crannies of my apartment. Cats HATE when I bring it out.

Doug! Thanks for clarifying the history and teaching about Switson! I always seem to forget the details about that Welland vac maker.

Do you have any of the other parts besides the dusting brush?

@collector2 as I said I enharited this vacuum so I am unsure which parts are original I will try to post pics of the mix of attachments I have later. Hopefully you guys can identify which are original and which aren't.

Hi again:

The original parts would have been the same as these with my Regina V254 except blue.

What does "enharited" mean?

That's when you inherit something, it has been enharited.
