I think it was just poor packing excpet for the broken screw hole that attached the base inside with a screw missing
but seller said they'd file a claim 3 weeks ago never did
now it;s crunch deadline time. We all know its not feasible to send a 25 lb vac for inspection.

Anyway she has lots of Hoovers now & a Kirby UG
& I was thinking if you bid beware.

I got a case for the rainbow
still need a basin
blow hole cover
electric cord as the prong was cut off the wire,,,I don't blame her for knowing that
but I got a vac with cracks to both top & bottom case, broken blower cover, screw hole broken inside & missing screw, water basin broken on one clamp side so I am not very happy!

What would you do?
Leave Neg then they do likewise
bite the bullet be honest w neutral say you got it damaged & seller was not helpful

I;m just glad the motor is OK

Just beware if you see a vac & the sellers name is Latoya

OOOOH & STILL no cord for the KirbyD50...

Arrrghhh

So, I hope its not to hard to take out the motor & everything & rewire it into the new case?

I'd leave a negative. Her history is short but terrible right now.. 2 negs and 4 positives

6 feedback so That's not her & I don't want to hurt

I didn't leave the entire name it's Latoya with some numbers after it & she has about 280 feedback of 98 % good.

Shipped pots & all the handles were broke & buyer said she did nothing.

I;m still trying
I;ll call the credit card company see what they can do.
I asked for $20 or $25 refund which would cover the one part.

What about a motor gasket
If I switch the entire motor things like gaskets in a 20 plus year old machine may fall apart.
The gasket is $15

It just doesn't seem feasible to repair this unit but the motor is good & I feel so bad for it. Poor Humpty

She said she's send me $25
not she's back to square ine wanting to file with DHL which she should have done 4 weeks ago.

Anyone ever take apart a rainbow
is switching the unit to another base involve any special tools?

Its working & I have glued & taped it together poor thing but that kind of repair is not going to be a long lived one.

DHL must have manhandled it too!

I can't remember exactly how it was packed
there was some buble wrap on access & basin & dolly but nothing under the unit which is very fragile when not together.

Think most was packaging but that screwhole is inside
& where's the screw if it broke during shipping
its not in the box.

Even looks cracked inside didn't notice that so it could be scratches.

Maybe DHL will cough up some bucks
but they will give it to her as the shipper
& I have to wait another month with this awful big box in this small apt

LOL

Plug question

I guess I should have went for a unit with a good plug too & other parts but got the case for $6 plus $14 shipping

Anyway the unit should be grounded with a 3 prong plug.
The ground prong is not there
someone took it out so theres a hole.

It's working but since the unit involves electric & water I assume its not good

A new wire is $23

Can I just splice a good three prog plug on wire end or wpuld that even be worse?

Forget it
think I;m asking for trouble

This think is a mess & with all these parts it would be better to just buy another working one

LOL

So upset here you can't imagine

Not sure

Guess I should visit Hesco but don't think they had a diagram of this one
but maybe the unit can be just taken out with screws
& comes out as a whole piece or 2 so as to not have to take too much apart

Maybe I can switch it motor gasklet & all
but I'm thinking the spider in front assemly on bottom of unit

Arrrghhh

Looks like the bottom gasket assembly piece will have to come apart to get it out

Wish me luck...yikes doesn't look like fun

I had to dig up a bad business transaction, I ordered an item in August of last year, paid immediately with PayPal. Bottom line, never received item after waiting weeks, but did get full refund. Item was relisted immediately and resold for twice what I won it for. I gave negative feedback. I received negative feedback claiming I DID receive it, sent it back, and got the refund. He says "watch out for this buyer" meaning me, who NEVER saw or received the item. foru_2nv is the seller. Sorry you are having problems.

Yea, they can get away with that a few times

Screw up your perfect record.
Thing is if you got a refund from paypal then they should wipe the ovious retalition neg feedback from the seller from your account.

I won a microscope for $25 once
they never sent it & I finally did get my money back.
That was a paypal funds transcation

If you use a credit card the CC comp can do a charge back
So Ive heard & not sure the details yet.

I got a busted FQ power nozzle
least it came

I still have yet to receive the cord for my Kirby
or the Kirby thhat was supposed to be shipped Monday & its an hour or so away in ?CA so not sure why it would take a few days to get here

ARRRGGH

I feel your pain. I paid top dollar for an Electrolux that was cracked on the inside of the door. Thats how they go sometimes.
I swaped the case on my Dad's Rainbow a few years ago when both of the latches broke off. As I remember the motor just comes out when you take out the screws on the bottom. There is a gasket that is over the heads that is glued in place. I think the old girl is worth fixing if it runs good.
Just my two cents.
Nicholas

Hopefully someone here will be able to help out if you get little satisfaction out of the seller.

You know you could always do a drive by the vac shops on garbage day morning or the evening before and see what they're tossing out. That's how I got my little Electrolux upright, they were just tossing it out and it worked perfectly.. and I've seen some Rainbow bits and pieces, pans etc out in their trash as well.

I got the $25 partial refund!

Yeah,

Drafted a letter worthy of a power attorney
She came to reason her case looked bad
LOL

Apologised as she thought it was another cracked rainbow

LOL

Anyway she sent it thru paypal

So that;s over but even $75 is alot to pay for a cracked up rainbow.

YEAH

I;m so happy

It;s only $25 not $100 but I work very hard for every penny I make & I am on a very limited income.

Vac driveby
Not a bad idea

Heck I guess I could put the word out at 2 local vacs stores.
but the one guy just doesn't seem like he knows his stuff
well I guess not too many 30 year olds are knowledgable on 25 to 40 yo vacs

Happy Dance over here

Got some mothers today
so since I got no kirby cord yet
I guess I;ll shine it up

that's the next case of the missing kirby cord
& kirby abducted by aliens

Arrgghh

Glued gasket

If I need a gasket I;d like to order it or at least have it before I start as I want to get it back together before I forget how it came out
& you think you'll remember but a few days & you go where does this go?

I got the bent fan blades on the filter queen & broken wheel on the electrolux. I switched out the wheel from one of my others.

You know its hard as we are particular
To some people its a vacuum
It picks up dirt & as long as it works they don't care.

Now I don't mind scuffs or a ding or scratches
these thinigs are used & old
but I would like to know about broken parts.

This Rainbow's got heart

Tracked the lil guy through Ohio Kansas etc
Don't know what perils befell him
Poor guy
I felt so sorry
seeing him come out of the box
a shadow of his former self
but I have come to love him
even with his cracks & tape & glue
& want to put him back together
Poor thing works for me
Picked up a qt spill then shampooed 2 rooms.
I'm careful with it as I know he might crack open like an egg
my poor Humpty Dumpty

Was really happy to get a case for $20
gosh it's cvheaper to buy another than to buy the parts
but I'm doing my best for the lil guy

He knows he has a good body coming
& he's very happy!!!!!

LOL

I got a Lux 345 off a mate once, came by DHL Courier or w/e.

Arrived smashed to bits, oh well.

I guess I shouldn't be happy til case arrives

If this one just drops it in a box it will be no better.
trouble with plastic is it not going to withstand thrasing around in a box esp over bumps.

It's sad when a good machine gets its life cut short like that

packed well but end of handle broke

lol
theses things just seem to self destruct
anyway I'll use the handle from mine

got top switched thats easy

but bottom holds the motor & its tricky

I reglued the bottom think it will hold

just not sure how to get it out as it seems it won't come out whole as either end is bigger than case opening

also can't seem to switch power no9zzlke receptacle
would use the one in the new base but the plug seems beat

so for now the new top really makes it look like its whole again
