It is with a very heavy heart that I write this to inform all of George's Friends here of his passing, Dec 6, 2016.
George and I have been friends for almost 20 years and his passing leaves a serious void in my life but also leaves me with scores of happy memories. George was the first "other" vacuum collector I ever had contact with and, over the years, we traded many machines back and forth. Many happy hours were spent on the phone talking about various parts of our collections and life in general. Happily a trip in 2007 took me all the way to Florida to meet George in person. His collection was almost as large as my own and we spent the better part of a week sorting machines out. In recent years our calls slowed from weekly to once every 6 weeks or so but they never lasted less than 2 hours. How I will miss them. Rest in Peace George. You will always be remembered. Hi Doug: I'm saying this a lot lately but know that George will be added to the prayers for my vacuum cleaner friends. Was George a member of the V.C.C.C.? if so he will be entered into the 'In Mememoriam' book, if not then please write a short bio so we can learn more about him.

Doug, that name sounds very familiar to me. There was a man named George as one of the very first members to the V.C.C.C. way back in 1983, could this be the same man? While I doubt it, it's possible. Tell me when George joined and all the background you can. What were his favorites? The more I know the better.
Thanks, Alex. |

Hi Alex.
Actually it is very possible. I really don't know much about his involvement with the club though other than he was was part of it for a long time. Tom Gasco knows George and would probably be able to give you more information in that respect. George had very eclectic tastes in machines but some of his favorites were Electroluxs. Doug |
