Hi Folks... I thought I would put up a few new tunes as it has been a while...

This one I did for my Aunt who has made the hard decision to stop any further treatment after fighting a 7.5 year battle with colon cancer... When I spoke to her two weeks ago she had asked when I was doing a few new songs and I thought this one was perfect for the way she always makes everyone feel no matter how bad she is feeling herself... I hope you enjoy it - I kept this one simple...
Dan

The Next one is just a favorite of mine from when I was very young... This one is played from memory, so it may not be exactly as it should musically... But it's how I remember playing it when I was a youngster...

And one last one... I always liked this song even thought it was long before my time !!!
My mother always made me play this when I was little... It is also from memory, so some of it may not be exact...

Thanks Gary - Its amazing how much I forgot, yet how much and what odd songs I can remember - I turned 50 this September - Most of those songs I played when I was between 8-13...

So on a side note, I got to play the New Marquee EX5000 two weeks ago...
Very Nice - Some neat features, like the cascading effect when you hold a key, but to me personally, not worth that much money - Street Price is $42,000.00 but he told me $36,000.00 is the average sell price -

Don't really care for the Silver/Black lettering Combo, nor the non-illuminated buttons... They claim that the Silver/Black are easier for the Seniors to see...

I think most of the improvements are internal - There is the equivalent of three Liberties inside the Marquee as far as computing power goes...

He is still keeping his eye out for a Prestige for me - That is about as new as I would go - Maybe an Imperial, if I rearrange for the extra room the pedals and bench take up...Don't really care for the Sterling/Patriot/Liberty with the small side screens...

Time to start thinking about what x-mass tunes to do for this year !!!

That is all for now...

Great that you were able to try out the Marquee. I like the large touch screen. I've not seen one in person however....there are no dealers here in Canada. I was never fond of the side screens on the Liberty, Sterling, Patriot either. I'm amazed at the price the dealer quoted you. From everything I've seen on-line and discussed on the organ forum, it seems that dealers were quoting in the $80-100K range which is absolutely ridiculous. I like the Imperial but I would not have room for the backrest on the bench in my room configuration. The full pedals should not be a problem since they go under the bench.

With those $36-40,even 100K prices on a Marquee organ--maybe prospective buyers might want to look or listen to the Living Voice Palladium Hi-Fi speakers--why they are only 2 mil per pair!!!Come with tube amps and the designer builder delivors, installs, and tunes them for you!!!A REAL Bargain?????What!!!Maybe you could play the organ thru those speakers!!!I like musical equipment that is more reasonably priced for us mortals!

Oh yes---GREAT selection played on your organ!!!Really liked it.Sort of rfemember "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" from the 70's the sog was played a lot at the radio station I worked for-can't remember who did the song.Just remember it got lots of airplay.

Gary - My lowrey dealer wrote an article for an organ trade magazine years ago explaining why there was no such thing as the $64,000 organ... I have to assume that the $42K street price must be something like the MSRP which I guess Lowrey does not suggest... He said the $36K is the average sell... I must say that I do not think that Jeff is one of those dealers that prays on the Seniors... He seems to be very honest to me...

Rex - It was originally done by B.J. Thomas... I think it was popular in the early 70's which would put it at about the time I got the Hammond (73)... I remember it was one of the first real songs I played from sheet music - I would have been 6 or 7... When my parents had a a favorite I had to play it to death for them and anyone that came over... and this was one of them... What amazes me is I can't remember what I did 2-days ago, but I can still remember how to play some of these from memory... Turned 50 on September 5th - Getting old is a bitch...

Anyhow - Glad you enjoyed them...

Dan, what great music! Red Roses has always been a favorite. If you ever decide to do a disc of classics I'll be first in line!

BJ Thomas-OK sort of remember. At how many songs that station played sometimes its hard to remember who did them.At the place I work at now sometimes those old songs are still played. The Cubans and Hatians seem to like them.Same with Africa. Is there a real set manufacturers price on the Lowrey organs-seems like with Kirby vacuums-the pricing is VERY confusing.

There is no set price on Lowrey organs...it is whatever the dealer and buyer agree upon.

I would like to thank you all for your kind words... I have not been checking in recently as my Aunt passed away on Monday the 7th, and I have been in a very bad slump...

This was my posting from Facebook the day she died:

It is with a broken heart, that I must tell everyone that my beloved Aunt FiFi passed away late yesterday after a 7.5 year battle with cancer... She was loved by everyone who met her - Her personality just lit up the room when she came in...
Even after getting her original diagnosis she never really let the cancer slow her down... She came to KeyWest on a couple of occasions and spend a few days wth Rob & I - Even during the treatment we could not keep up with her !!! She would be out walking us, and in heels no less...
I am lucky to have all the memories of the times we would spend together as young kids with her, uncle, Donna, Paulie, Denise, and Gwen...
Well... Now god has decided he needed you more then we did here... You are finally at peace and not suffering, and with Nanny and Poppy Pfister, and daddy... You are all a family together once again in heaven... You will never be forgotten and your spirit will go on in everyone whose lives you have ever touched... Heaven has yet another angel...
(I loved this picture of Aunt Fi with Rob and I...)

So There is one more song I will post... Along with the story of why I posted it... (I am not sure If I every put this one up here, but if I did, forgive me...)

Second post from my Facebook Account:
I had played the organ from the time I was about 6 until I moved back to jersey 21 years ago and stopped... I decided to start playing again about two years ago and got a much newer organ...
I would send Aunt Fi e-mails with links to the YouTube videos I would put up (I did not really Facebook then), and she would listen to them and then call me to tell me that I needed to quit my job and play for a living... (she was the type that never had anything negative to say and was overly optimistic !!!)...
The first video I ever sent her was "Over the Rainbow" which was the first song I played after all those years...
When she called me to tell me how much she loved it and had played it over and over agin, we laughed about a story that Nanny Pfister would always tell us about when her and my father were little and she took them to see the Wizard of Oz in the movies (Can you imagine)
When the Witch came out on her broom for the first time, her and my father were so scared they ran out of the theater and would not go back in and did not sleep for two nights !!!
So here is to you Aunt Fi - I know you can hear this and I hope it brings another smile to your face... I know you have made it over the rainbow and are home again... and there is no place like home... I will always love you, and you will always be in my heart...

I, as well as the rest of us, know all too well the angst and pain of not only the death of someone, but the illness that caused it.
You and your family are in my thoughts.
