Well..

If you go to their website and scroll down to the "features" category, you will see that they have a Eureka marked as a Bissell, and a Bissell marked as a Shark. Other than that I know nothing about the vacuum but just how poorly they are trying to advertise it.

I find it interesting that there is no filter whatsoever on the unit according to their site.

 

I wonder what it does with materials that may not absorb into the water well such as plaster dust, baby powders and a few other materials?

 

 

Also they really do need to fix the photos at the bottom of the page.  Their website designer or someone else screwed up.  There isn't even a Shark photographed but they mention a Shark LiftAway below the features table.

so I keyword searched and found someone already posted about it. It looks like the water pan is shaped like the older style rainbows.

There is even ANOTHER one too called the Robot Airflow NS

I can't believe all the water filtration vacuums on the market now. And when you watch the advert, they act like they all invented them, other than the fact they will subtly mention other vacuums like this sell for $3,000.

They are a little different in that the water pan's contain silver ions that prevent germs (so they say) and the hose is 9 feet and I think the basin has LED shining into the basin like Rainbow (at least from what I've read)

I have to admit - it looks cool

As I remembered you can't download the 'whole' owners manual. There is mention of the seperator, how to clean, etc. It would be interesting to see if there is any mention of a 'air cleaner or exhaust purifier' (technically not a filter).

at the ONLINE manual. It's pretty straight forward, but when you get to the page about separator cleaning, it says this:

THE (turbine) SEPARATOR.
For accurate Separator performance it is recommended to
perform a simple inspection and cleaning (if necessary) after
5-7 uses. It’s a quick and easy procedure. Refer to the
OWNER’S MANUAL found on-line at: QuantumVac.com

But that is the ONLINE manual! It's telling you to refer to something you're already referring to.

If you look at the infomercial that is on their page, it's a bit melodramatic and misleading. They say that this vacuum uses new technology. Rainbow vacuums have been doing the same thing for around 80 years, I wouldn't say that's new. Also, when they get to the part about filters, they have someone coughing in the background and talk about how other vacuums release bacteria back in to the air that will make you sick. Granted, some vacuums do this, but many don't. If you have a good sealed system such as a Miele, or the Electrolux Ultra one, or a central vacuum, this should not be a problem. I think they assume they are advertising to those who don't know much about vacuums, and that's probably true, I'd be curious to know what others think of the infomercial. I'm not impressed when companies exaggerate their claims. I didn't watch the entire video, so there may have been other things as well. A better approach would have been to describe what it does and then focus on how expensive the rainbow is and that their product is a much better price.

there are two infomericals on YouTube - I almost passed out when, on one of them, the actually SHOWED the Rainbow and did mention it @ 9:43.

What amazes me about this price of 498 - they have a quick disconnect (unlike Sirena) and a lighted basin. And I did notice on the manual they say to not vacuum anything non-wettable. I almost like the looks of it a little better than my Sirena. Of course, Rainbow is the best.

take it to dealer for maintenance - That's the craziest thing I've ever heard. They do NOT have filters. Other than the computer on board, the PN, and the wands/quick disconnect, this looks just like a Rainbow from 80s/90s. In the manual they say not to vacuum anything non-wettable.

I still like the looks of it quite honestly. I wonder what their reasoning is for wanting to have it brought in to be maintained after 180 hours? MONEY?

doesn't say anything about bringing it in for maintenance every 180 hours of use. But that company in the video above did. They are essentially the same vacuum so I don't know. Who is even going to calculate that? I couldn't tell you how many hours I've actually used my shark or rainbow or sirena.

I have a

Model B, C and several variations of model D as well as a D-3 I sold new in 83,That said, I very rarely use any of them, I think they are not very powerful, and messy, Fun as a gimmick, but not to really use..And I used to sell them...LOL I cant see a knockoff being much..

Regarding that Intertek performance test result you posted....Well, I find it very peculiar that the one parameter you DID NOT test for, which obviously should have been included, is for dust emissions! Hmm, I wonder why that would be?? Because you have no HEPA Filter as part of a certified sealed system on the Quantum Vac's exhaust. Even your direct competitor in the water filtration vacuum sector, Sirena, has a HEPA filter on it's exhaust as standard equipment. And not only does Sirena sell for only slightly more than Quantum Vac, it has similar features, uses the same identical motor, & the Sirena can be taken to most vac shops for servicing & repair.

It's a FACT that water filtration does NOT work as effectively as the companies marketing their products state. Back in 1995, Consumer Reports blasted the Rainbow D4 SE for it's dust emissions, rating it only "fair". They even went as far to suggest it would be a poor choice for allergy sufferers. And back in the early 90's there was a university study done comparing the Rainbow D4 SE to a ordinary Panasonic bagged upright vacuum with micro-filtration bags....it was found that the bagged vacuum was superior to the Rainbow & that the water filtration was found to capture only about 40% of the particulates from re-entering the enviroment. Which explains why the majority of water filtration vacuum companies have chosen to include a HEPA filter as part of their system. When you state not having filters is a advantage on your website, it's not, it's really a disadvantage!

If I was even going to consider a water filtration vacuum, I would be looking at a refurbished Rainbow E Series or a Sirena. I wouldn't even remotely consider your product, for it's lack of a HEPA filter & also that there would be no local service or support. NO WAY would I consider dropping over $500 dollars for a vacuum like that! And you should be ashamed of yourself for coming on here, thinking you could talk & fool vacuum collectors into believing in & buying your product.

The Quantum vac

I just did my taxes I thought about either buying a new Sirena or Rainbow or Quantum vac . I dont care if the Rainbow or Sirena doesnt have micro silver that doesnt matter to me and i dont really think you need it anyways . Neither the Sirena or Quantum vac has a shampoor or a rainjet i would like to have that option . Also the Quantum vac you cant try before you buy which sucks because i like try something out before i buy it . I dont like the fact if you dont like the Quantum vac you have to take to ups or fedx to send it back thats gonna be a pain in the butt.

emissions with or without a hepa if (like in the CR tests in the 90s) they vacuumed talc, flour, carpet fresh powder, things like that. I only say this because having a rainbow for ten years, the hepa is still very usable after five years, and the first hepa I broke into it and cut open just to examine it and it still had a lot of life into it, but since I destroyed it, I had to start with a new one. I've seen the brown hepa filters on rainbows and the fans caked in dirt on this site.. Mine has never looked like that.. The water and separator is keeping the hepa in the rainbow super clean, as long as you use the bow how you should. I can say in the past I did not think Sirena was as good at Rainbow at this, because I can see dirt on the fans and separator, unlike my rainbow - however, I was filling to the min line and now when filling to max, it seems much better. I actually called the vacuum shop I bought it from and he said I could bring it in and he would clean the fans for free, as long as I had purchased it from them.

I think the Quantum vac is just a Rainbow D4 with a better PN, a bigger motor, quick disconnect, and silver technology. I could be wrong, but I can't imagine going 7 months before cleaning the separator. I honestly would love to have one to try...but I don't need one.

It makes sense that stuff that won't absorb into the water well such as plaster dust, baby powder, etc. would be passed through the water. I guess that's why my Tursbo H2O has a hepa. The Turdbo does do a pretty good job which is why I'd like to get a "real" water vac, but now I'm not sure.

if you're vacuuming super fine dust like those materials, it's horrible on any vacuum and will clog up a hepa in no time. I remember reading when carpet fresh powder was sold in the 80s, it was MURDER on any vacuum...That's why I try not to use any of my good vacuums to vacuum that kind of stuff - whether it be water filtration, bagged or bagless. I'm sure the emissions tests would be fine on pre hepa filter rainbows or the quantum vac as LONG as anyone doesn't vacuum that type of stuff. No one here uses talc powder and if I get flour on the floor or drywall dust (which isn't too often), I grab my garage shop vac.

What blows my mind is how is the quantum vacuum so great that the separator would only need to be cleaned every 7 months. I mean, I find that impossible to believe - especially knowing how people who buy it will probably vacuum their entire house on one fill of water, with a basin full of mud at the end. The rainbow separator stays pretty clea even after 5 or so uses, but I still clean it frequently just to be sure.

Hello All,

Matthew here again with the Quantum Vacuum. In response to Rob's comment about the Intertek Performance Results: we were testing the levels of pathogens in the air such as mold, fungi, bacterium, and viruses. This was to prove that it actually purifies the air in the home, rather than just cleaning it.

The Rainbow systems prior to 1996 did not include HEPA filters, but that wasn't the only reason dust would be emitted from the machine. I know because our President worked for Rainbow for a number of years. The actual design of the machine didn't force dirt and dust directly into the water, but just into the basin of the machine. Much of the dust never got wet due to this design and would be released back into the air, which our President corrected when designing the Quantum Vac Pro. With our machine, everything is forced directly into the water and therefore trapped. Of course, items like talc and drywall will not be trapped due to them being non-soluble materials.

I have a Quantum myself, and every time I turn it on, I can feel the difference in the air. No musty smells coming out from unchanged filters, no visible dust release (the only reason I include "visible" is because I don't know of any test results displaying the dust emissions, and can only give my personal review), and I love not having to worry about changing filters, just wash out the basin.

We do have a product demo where we shine a light on the vacuum's exhaust after a lot of use and you can't see anything coming out. We do the same thing with any other traditional vacuum system, and you can easily see dust spew into the air when you power up the motor.

I can't argue about the local service other than saying we are working to build our distribution base to make service more readily available.

Also, the cost is under $500, unlike Rainbows which can accrue over $2000 in initial costs, plus HEPA filter replacements costing $65-150 and needing to be replaced every 6-12 months. Sirena is also a great choice, it's only a couple hundred more than our product and can readily be serviced just about anywhere!

Actually Matthew, for one I work for rainbow, to make it true your statement is false reguarding the HEPA filter. As a matter of fact we have people that have had their rainbows for YEARS with little to no dust and debris in their HEPA filters and their machines are maintained and used constantly. Also our machines do not require service every 180 hours, however we do recommend that they come in for cleanings and service every 5-10 years which includes a certified HEPA filter. As far as your 5 year warranty goes I wonder how much of a pain in the ass it would be to get any parts covered under warranty let alone all machines should be cleaned and serviced regularly to keep them running at optimum performance and shipping the machine to and from one place to the other can be quite expensive. Also explain the micro silver technology as I'm having a hard time completely understanding what micro silver technonogy is. We at rainbow are CERTIFIED by asthma and allergy foundation and are highly recommended by allergy doctors all over the world.

When it comes to water filtration machines, you definitely want one with a separator, the machines with no separator will be a mess to clean. I think the Quantum, Sirena and Hila all use the same motor so the performance would be similar.

definitely has to have a separator. I still can't imagine any water vacuum with a separator claiming the separator never needs to be cleaned or needs to be cleaned rarely. I know Hyla's is self-cleaning supposedly....although I'm not sure how.. I know there is a major difference in the material on the Rainbow's separator vs the Sirena. The Rainbows is heavier, thicker and made of some type of material that is more slick feeling. I clean the separator after every use to be safe, but the rainbows separator does take a few uses to get dirty..while the sirena's is dirty on the first use. Also, the slots are father apart on the sirena separator. The Rainbows is really close together

I really want a Quantum and a sirena some day I will bite the bucket and get both.

I just recently bought a used Big Power at a flea market. I've not tried it out yet but it does look like a mess to clean out as it does not have the separator and a 1,000 parts to clean however I've heard fairly good things about them.
I'd like to have one example of each water vac out there.

I'm very hesitant to believe Hila's claim that you never have to clean the separator. Every time I use my rainbow or Sirena, the basin goes in to the sink and I remove the separator and wash it along with the basin. I've heard the Delphin machines are really good as well but have not been able to find one, I had thought about getting a Hila but the reviews I have seen seem to indicate that they are not as good as the Rainbow or Sirena. If you want a bagless machine, these are the way to go though because they don't have the problems that plague most bagless machines, dust clouds everywhere and clogged filters.

Hello All,

Matthew here again. Electroluxxxx, can you explain what you meant by "to make it true your statement is false regarding the HEPA filter"? I've heard stories of people who don't vacuum often not needing to change out their HEPA filter nearly as often, but the 6-12 months is the recommended timeline.

First, our machine doesn't need to be serviced every 180 hours, and I'm honestly not sure where that ever came from. The Warranty will cover all parts and labor for 5 years from the date of purchase, and yes, the customer would be responsible for shipping the faulty part to us, but we would cover the return shipping. As I had noted in my last response as well, we are working towards building our distributor base, which means our Authorized Service Centers are becoming more readily available in peoples areas.

As for the Micro Silver technology, it's been used in the medical field for years, embedded into surgical equipment and onto bandages for burn victims. The reason being for this is that microscopic silver particles have the ability to pierce the air sacs of pathogens and suffocating them. By embedding this technology in the basin of our machine, as the water circulates in the basin these micro silver particles are suffocating the pathogens in the water, and reducing the amount of pathogens in the air by over 99%.

Also yes, we do have a separator in the machine that is recommended to be maintained every 5-7 months. Of course, it's always better to clean it regularly, just like checking on the rotating brushes.

A long time ago my cat had an infected paw pad. Not sure how it even got that way but it was swollen and infected. Before taking her to the vet I went to a cat forum asking for help. Someone said to go to a health food store and get colloidal silver, which I did......I gave some to her and the next day the infection started going away......2nd day even more, Each day improved. I keep a bottle of it. It's like a natural antibiotic and it really does work.....so it doesn't surprise me if silver is part of the basin or whatever that it kills pathogens. I think a Samsung front load washer at one point had something called Silver care where silver was somehow in the drum material or something.

The service every 180 hours came from me - I had read it somewhere on their website or a YouTube video or something like that. I can't remember.

If you just bought a Quantum vac - Let us know what you think of it. If it were me, I would clean the separator after every use and change the water before it gets too thick with crud, just like Rainbow (just to be safe) They say not to use essential oil in Rainbow because it can crack the basin, but for years, I've used Eucalyptus, Lemon and orange and I've never had a problem in rainbow or sirena and it smells 10x better than the manufacturer fragrances and no chemicals.

We actually highly recommend essential oils like the ones Mark40511 listed: Eucalyptus, Lemon, Mint, Lavender, etc. Just nothing that can foam, and we don't recommend anything with synthetic materials, as it kind of defeats the purpose of purifying the air!

We challenge you to take your old/other vacuum(s) and clean a space in your home, then take the Quantum to the same space and see the difference.

Obviously, the biggest differences would be between traditional vacuums vs water vacs, but we'll be happy to see how we stand against all those other water vacuums you have!

won't work because the last vacuum always wins. You could clean high and low with a Quantum or rainbow or Sirena or Dyson or whatever - then you could grab another cheap vacuum and it will still find dirt - making someone think the cheapest vacuum is the best - when in fact, no vacuum can get all the dirt, so each vacuum following that vacuum will find more dirt. I'm a water filtration vacuum freak. Had I not already bought a Sirena, I think the Quantum vac looks more appealing to me for some reason than Sirena.

The Challenge

I can understand where you're coming from in that the last vac always wins, but the point we try to make is how much dirt you're pulling, and where it's coming from. Due to the high power that water filtration machines bring, they don't just pull dirt from the carpet itself, but from the padding below and the floorboard beneath that. You may still grab some dirt with the last vacuum, but you can clearly see the difference in how much dirt is picked up!

@ 9:12 it says after about 180 hrs of use, you should take it to dealer for maintenance. So this is where that came from.

To be honest...

I'm actually shocked that of all brands rainbow has to be copied! They sell their machines door to door, so it's a surprise to see it copied! Sanitaire has been copied, bissell has been copied, oreck (somewhat) has been copied, sebo and Windsor have been copied, and plenty of other brands! But to see that some of Hoover's better machines (like the guardsman/convertible/decade) have never been copied is somehow not surprising, by as for royal's all metal uprights and Kirby's vacuum not being copied, that's not surprising. I guess people copy other brands because it's innovative, or they just want to provide an alternative ( I guess) in the case of sanitaire. It's almost like some companies can't come up with anything original anymore (but that is up for debate, really)

copying rainbow

The rainbow is a good machine, but it's expensive, there's no getting around it. So, it would make sense to try and duplicate it at a cheaper price, the Sirena has definitely done this. It works just as well as a Rainbow at a third of the price, there are some differences of course, but nothing that really changes the cleaning performance.

Found this thread searching for this type of vacuum. Years ago someone came to our door and demonstrated a Rainbow. I loved it but the price! Recently I came across the Sirena and now the others thanks to this thread. I went and saw the Sirena at a vacuum shop. The guy didn't know much about and gave a poor presentation of it. Amazon showed both positive and negative reviews. Never seen the Quantum. For the people here who have or tried both seem to favor the Rainbow. Are there reasons why? Intersted in knowing people's opinions about these type of vacs. Thanks!
