Foil tree

I have heard that the history of these trees goes back to strips of shiny foil being dropped out of US planes in WWII to confuse enemy radar. After the war the company making foil strips came up with a new use and 50s Christmas was never the same.

That sounds very credible

My late father was diagnosed with Cancer shortly before I was born.  Not being ablt to cut a live tree,  he bought one of these 6' Evergleam trees.  WE used it until 1973.  THen, it sat in the basement, unseen, for years.  Now, I put it up in the diningroom,  just for old times.  Criticized for keeping it,  NOW, it's the rage.  I looked on Ebay.... wow!  We never had the 'color wheel', though.

My mom got ours, 61? we had that till 71 and divorce. She loved them, again solid colors, and the color wheel. She had a second larger one for her huge beauty shop dryer area. Till the 80s there!

The price is STILL on our box.

$29.00 was actually a lot for 1961. They're "in vogue" again,  bigtime. It'll go up again in the diningroom. 55 years old and still "shining".
