I have a Kirby Ultimate G Diamond edition from 2003 that My parents bought from a demo, however from years of use, it has been banged up badly it needs to be rebuffed, have the power switch replaced, and have a new gasket near the air exhaust port. how much would anyone charge for a reasonable price to restore my machine?

PS: I took it apart by my self and had no sealicone gasket maker to "glue" it back together............ So I used multi purpose caulk.

I'm sending my Ultimate G to the Kirby rebuild center when I get back in a few weeks. Hopefully they will do a fantastic job on it.

Beatiful Kirby's, I Love the Looks of that Generation 3!

If I was to get mine restored by someone on this site how much would it cost for a Simple installation of a Power Switch, exhaust port gasket, and light buffing cost?

I do love me some Kirbys! That G5 is especially nice. I've always loved that cabernet color. Circumstances took mine in a little bit more of a 'resto-mod' direction.

You're going to need a professional to buff the scratches out. We charge $79 for the power control module plus installation. You seriously might want to have it rebuilt by Kirby themselves, since that was part of the original warranty and it's never changed hands since new. Go to the Kirby company's website and find the information about a factory rebuild.

I used mu old buffing machine i found in my laundry room to polish and buff my Kirby today, It removed small scrathes and made the bigger ones smaller and less intense. How much better does my Kirby look after the buffing?

Tom is absolutely right. If your parents are the original owners then they have a right to the owner discounted price of a Kirby rebuild. You will basically get a brand new one back even though it's your original one. They replace ALL internal parts and seals etc. New cord, outer bag, all rubber trim brushroll, and buff it up to look like new. I don't remember what a G series rebuild will cost for an original owner. I'm sure it's probably around $200 or $300? but worth it. I had my late Aunt Phyllis's Classic Omega rebuilt in 2001 with her original paperwork and it cost me $42.50 plus shipping! I literally got a brand new Omega back for $42.50. I'd like to have it done again lol

p.s I don't know if she's still working there but ask for Kathy in rebuild when you call. She was a sweetheart. We had a very long conversation on the phone about Kirby collecting and she asked me (if her supervisor was interested) if I could send her pics of all my Kirby's and they'd do a magazine article for Kirby. This didn't happen but it was sure nice talking to them about it. Being only 16 at the time I was overjoyed that they even considered such a thing.

If I was to buy the power switch online would someone put it in for me?
The DIY Instructions seem a little bit hard for me, mainly moving the Techdrive pieces around.

If you are NOT the original Owner

Then go with Chicago Mike!
He does all the Kirby's i have and has invested in tons of the "Right" tools to do the job correctly!

My 2 Cents!
Larry
